Abstract

A slant back off-ridge roof vent and the method of its use and construction are disclosed. A ventilation system may include a base flashing portion and a hood fitting over the base flashing portion. The base flashing portion may include an integral cylindrical chimney portion formed out of the base flashing. The hood may include a top surface, a slant back portion extending from the top surface to a tab connecting the hood to the base flashing portion, and three sidewalls extending from the top surface to the base flashing. At least one of the three sidewalls may include integrally pierced louvers.

1 . A ventilation system comprising:
 a base flashing portion including an integral cylindrical chimney portion formed out of the base flashing; and   a hood fitting over the base flashing portion, the hood including a top surface, a slant back portion extending from the top surface to a tab connecting the hood to the base flashing portion, and three sidewalls extending from the top surface to the base flashing, wherein at least one of the three sidewalls includes integrally pierced louvers.   
     
     
         2 . The ventilation system of  claim 1 , wherein the cylindrical chimney portion of the base portion includes a tapered portion at a top of the cylindrical chimney portion. 
     
     
         3 . The ventilation system of  claim 1 , wherein the hood is formed from one piece of formed metal. 
     
     
         4 . The ventilation system of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a non-woven polyester filter surrounding the integral cylindrical chimney portion and covered by the hood.   
     
     
         5 . The ventilation system of  claim 1 , wherein each of the three sidewalls extending from the top surface to the base flashing include integrally pierced louvers. 
     
     
         6 . An off-ridge ventilation system for a roof, the ventilation system comprising:
 a base flashing portion including an integral cylindrical chimney formed out of the base flashing; and   a hood fitting over the base flashing portion, the hood formed from one piece of formed metal and including a slant back portion extending from a top surface of the hood to a tab connecting the hood to the base flashing portion.   
     
     
         7 . The off-ridge ventilation system of  claim 6 , wherein the hood includes a plurality of sidewalls extending from the top surface of the hood to the base flashing portion. 
     
     
         8 . The off-ridge ventilation system of  claim 7 , wherein each of the plurality of sidewalls includes integrally pierced louvers. 
     
     
         9 . The off-ridge ventilation system of  claim 6 , further comprising:
 a non-woven polyester filter surrounding the integral cylindrical chimney portion.
