Claims

Abstract

In various embodiments, a carry (or carrying) bag is provided that includes an interior, substantially cut-resistant security panel assembly with a matrix of wires secured between or on one or more flexible material layers. Also in various embodiments, the security panel assembly may be positioned intermediate the bag outside wall and a lining of the bag, and in other embodiments, may also take the form of an expansion panel. Second or secondary locking fasteners are also provided to lock first or primary fasteners to or within the carrying bag, to provide security for compartments and pockets. A strap with one or more security cables, and various locking fasteners, may be attached to the carry bag. Methods for forming such security panel assemblies, expansion panels, and carrying straps are also disclosed.

1 . A carrying bag comprising:
 a flexible exterior bag having a plurality of flexible exterior panels and at least one opening for access to an interior of the exterior bag, at least two flexible exterior panels of the plurality of flexible exterior panels coupled together at one or more seams, the plurality of flexible exterior panels comprising at least one front flexible exterior panel and at least one bottom or lower flexible exterior panel; and   one or more security panel assemblies arranged within the interior of the flexible exterior bag and overlapping one or more of the at least one front flexible exterior panel or the at least one bottom or lower flexible exterior panel, each security panel assembly of the one or more security panel assemblies comprising:   a first flexible material layer having a first plurality of edges;   a first cut-resistant filament, cable, thread or yarn arranged in a first pattern on and coupled to the first flexible material layer to form a first panel;   a second flexible material layer having a second plurality of edges; and   a second cut-resistant filament, cable, thread or yarn arranged in a second pattern on and coupled to the second flexible material layer to form a second panel, the second panel arranged and coupled to overlay the first panel, with the second pattern arranged at an offset angle to the first pattern to form an asymmetrical grid pattern with the second cut-resistant filament, cable, thread or yarn crossing over the first cut-resistant filament, cable, thread or yarn to form a matrix.   
     
     
         2 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the matrix is formed in two different planes or layers of each security panel assembly. 
     
     
         3 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the matrix of one or more security panel assemblies is overlapping with or coupled into the one or more seams. 
     
     
         4 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the second flexible material layer is adhered or stitched to the first flexible material layer. 
     
     
         5 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the first pattern and the second pattern are each a zig-zag pattern or a saw tooth pattern. 
     
     
         6 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the first pattern and the second pattern each comprise a plurality of arms, each arm of the plurality of arms having a configuration selected from the group consisting of: triangular, rectangular, oval, sinusoidal, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         7 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the offset angle is greater than or equal to thirty degrees. 
     
     
         8 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the second pattern is arranged orthogonally to the first pattern. 
     
     
         9 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the first panel is a first half-panel having the first cut-resistant filament, cable, thread or yarn arranged in the first pattern and the second panel is a second half-panel having the second cut-resistant filament, cable, thread or yarn arranged in the second pattern, the first and second half-panels formed on one singular material layer, the one singular material layer folded over to overlay the first half-panel on the second half-panel. 
     
     
         10 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the first cut-resistant filament, cable, thread or yarn and the second cut-resistant filament, cable, thread or yarn each comprise one or more types of fibers, filaments, multifilaments, cables, threads, or yarns selected from the group consisting of: polymeric, metallic, carbon fiber, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         11 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the first or second flexible material layers further comprise one or more tabs, flanges, salvage portions or panel members for securing the one or more security panel assemblies in the interior of the exterior bag. 
     
     
         12 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , wherein the first cut-resistant filament, cable, thread or yarn and the second cut-resistant filament, cable, thread or yarn each comprise one or more metallic wires to form a metallic wire matrix having a plurality of wire crossings, the one or more metallic wires having at least two wire ends, the one or more metallic wires further arranged as a plurality of curved portions spaced apart from the first and second pluralities of edges, with each wire end spaced apart from any selected edge of the first and second pluralities of edges further than the spacing from the selected edge of the curved portions of the one or more wires which are adjacent the selected edge. 
     
     
         13 . The carrying bag of  claim 12 , wherein, each wire crossing of the plurality of wire crossings comprises at least two sections of metallic wire abutting and crossing over each other. 
     
     
         14 . The carrying bag of  claim 12 , each security panel assembly, of the one or more security panel assemblies, further comprising:
 at least one polymeric cap or adhesive coupled to one or more wire ends of the at least two wire ends.   
     
     
         15 . The carrying bag of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a first, zipper fastener coupled to the at least one opening;   a second fastener removably coupled between the first fastener and the flexible exterior bag, the second fastener having a first spring bias to a closed or locked configuration;   a third fastener removably coupled to the flexible exterior bag; and   a carry strap coupled to the third fastener, the carry strap comprising at least one flexible webbing material and at least one cut-resistant metallic or polymeric fiber, filament, cable, wire, thread or yarn;   wherein the second fastener is coupled to the first fastener and removably coupled to a ring coupled to the flexible exterior bag, or wherein the second fastener is coupled to the flexible exterior bag and removably coupled to the first fastener.   
     
     
         16 . A carrying bag comprising:
 a flexible exterior bag having a plurality of flexible exterior panels and at least one opening for access to an interior of the exterior bag, at least two flexible exterior panels of the plurality of flexible exterior panels coupled together at one or more seams, the plurality of flexible exterior panels comprising at least one front flexible exterior panel and at least one bottom or lower flexible exterior panel; and   one or more security panel assemblies arranged within the interior of the flexible exterior bag and overlapping one or more of the at least one front flexible exterior panel or the at least one bottom or lower flexible exterior panel, each security panel assembly of the one or more security panel assemblies comprising:   a first flexible material layer having a first plurality of edges;   a first metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn arranged in a first pattern on and coupled to the first flexible material layer to form a first panel;   a second flexible material layer having a second plurality of edges; and   a second metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn arranged in a second pattern on and coupled to the second flexible material layer to form a second panel, the second panel arranged and adhered or stitched to overlay the first panel, with the second pattern arranged orthogonally to the first pattern to form an asymmetrical grid pattern with the second metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn crossing over the first metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn to form a wire matrix.   
     
     
         17 . The carrying bag of  claim 16 , wherein the first pattern and the second pattern each comprise a plurality of arms, each arm of the plurality of arms having a configuration selected from the group consisting of: triangular, rectangular, oval, sinusoidal, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         18 . The carrying bag of  claim 16 , wherein the first or second flexible material layers further comprise one or more tabs, flanges, salvage portions or panel members for securing the one or more security panel assemblies in the interior of the exterior bag. 
     
     
         19 . The carrying bag of  claim 16 , wherein the first metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn and the second metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn are further arranged as a plurality of curved portions spaced apart from the first and second pluralities of edges, with each wire end spaced apart from any selected edge of the first and second pluralities of edges further than the spacing from the selected edge of the curved portions of the first metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn and second metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn which are adjacent the selected edge; and each security panel assembly, of the one or more security panel assemblies, further comprising at least one polymeric cap or adhesive coupled to one or more wire ends of the at least two wire ends. 
     
     
         20 . A carrying bag comprising:
 a flexible exterior bag having a plurality of flexible exterior panels and at least one opening for access to an interior of the exterior bag, at least two flexible exterior panels of the plurality of flexible exterior panels coupled together at one or more seams, the plurality of flexible exterior panels comprising at least one front flexible exterior panel and at least one bottom or lower flexible exterior panel; and   one or more security panel assemblies arranged within the interior of the flexible exterior bag and overlapping one or more of the at least one front flexible exterior panel or the at least one bottom or lower flexible exterior panel, each security panel assembly of the one or more security panel assemblies comprising:   a first flexible material layer having a first plurality of edges;   a first metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn arranged in a first pattern on and coupled to the first flexible material layer to form a first panel;   a second flexible material layer having a second plurality of edges; and   a second metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn arranged in a second pattern on and coupled to the second flexible material layer to form a second panel, the second panel arranged and adhered or stitched to overlay the first panel, with the second pattern arranged orthogonally to the first pattern to form an asymmetrical grid pattern with the second metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn crossing over the first metallic wire, cable, thread or yarn to form a wire matrix, wherein the first pattern and the second pattern each comprise a plurality of arms, each arm of the plurality of arms having a configuration selected from the group consisting of: triangular, rectangular, oval, sinusoidal, and combinations thereof.
