Abstract

A system and method for activating an optic for a gun. A magnetic field from a magnet proximate the optic is detected. Power to the optic is turned off from a battery of the optic in response to detecting the magnetic field. Power to the optic is turned on from a battery in response to not detecting the magnetic field.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed:

1 . A method for activating an optic for a gun, comprising:
detecting a magnetic field from a magnet proximate the optic; turning off power to the optic from a battery of the optic in response to detecting the magnetic field, the optic includes one or more lenses; and turning on power to the optic from a battery in response to not detecting the magnetic field.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnet is integrated in a holster.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnet is integrated in a carrying device for the gun.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnet is connected to a holster.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the optic is removable attached to the gun, and wherein the optic is a holographic sight or a reflex sight.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnetic field is detected utilizing a magnetic switch.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnetic switch is integrated in a frame or base of the optic.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnetic field is detected utilizing one or more sensors.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein one or more lenses of the optic display a red dot or reticle.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnet is attached to a lanyard.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the optic is adjustable utilizing one or more interfaces of the optic.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the battery of the optic is replaceable.

13 . A method for activating an optic for a gun, comprising:
detecting a magnetic field from a magnet proximate the optic; activating power to circuitry of the optic from a battery in response to not detecting the magnetic field, the optic includes one or more lenses; and deactivating power to the optic from a battery of the optic in response to detecting the magnetic field.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the magnet is integrated in a holster or carrying device for the gun.

15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the one or more lenses of the optic display a red dot or reticle.

16 . An optical sight for a gun comprising:
a housing including a base, a first support and a second support extend from opposing sides of the base, a top support extends between the first support and the second support, the top support extends over one or more optical elements; and the optical element is supported by the housing between the base, the first support, the top support, and the second support; a battery powering circuitry associated with the optical element; and a magnetic sensor integrated with the housing, wherein the magnetic sensor activates the battery to power optical element when removed from proximity to a magnetic field.

17 . The optical sight of claim 16 , wherein the magnetic sensor is a magnetic switch.

18 . The optical sight of claim 16 , wherein the magnetic field is emitted from a magnet integrated with or connected to a holster.

19 . The optical sight of claim 16 , wherein the optical sight is adjustable utilizing one or more interfaces of the housing.

20 . The optical sight of claim 16 , wherein the gun is a handgun, and wherein the optical sight is removable attached to the gun.
