Claims

Abstract

An exercise device consisting of two or more flexible elements originating from different locations and connected to a common handle capable of being moved in a variety of directions. Each element also connected to a resistance mechanism and a force measuring device whereby a user interface and microcomputer determine force and direction and enable creation of customized workouts.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An exercise apparatus comprising:
 a motorized isokinetic resistive mechanism moving at a speed in a first direction;   a user engageable grip coupled through a flexible element to said resistive mechanism; and   a controller capable of automatically changing the speed during use.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus as defined in  claim 1  wherein said speed is changed after each set of exercises. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus as defined in  claim 1  wherein said speed is changed after each repetition of exercise.
