Abstract
A method and apparatus for attenuating a shaped charge explosive by layering shock attenuation materials in between an internal liner and external shell to form a shaped charge case.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
. A shaped charge for perforating a wellbore, comprising:
an internal liner; an external shell; an explosive material lined disposed within the internal liner and lined with an explosive forming liner; and at least one shock attenuation material disposed between the internal liner and the external liner, wherein the combination of the at least one shock attenuation material provides shock attenuation for the detonation of a shaped charge.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , further comprising at least one explosive layer disposed between the internal liner and external shell.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the explosive layer fragments the external shell during detonation.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a liquid.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a gel.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a solid.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a gas.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a granular substance.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is porous.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a metal.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a plastic.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a ceramic.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , wherein the internal liner is composed of steel.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , further comprising a second external shell layered over the external shell.
. The shaped charge of claim 1 , further comprising at least one low density filler material disposed between the internal liner and the external liner.
. A shaped charge case for perforating a wellbore, comprising:
an internal liner; an external shell; at least one shock attenuation material disposed between the internal liner and the external liner; and at least one low density filler material disposed between the internal liner and the external liner, wherein the combination of the at least one shock attenuation material and at least one low density filler material provides shock attenuation for the detonation of a shaped charge.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , further comprising at least one explosive layer disposed between the internal liner and external shell.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the explosive layer fragments the external shell during detonation.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a liquid.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a gel.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a solid.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a gas.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a granular substance.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is porous.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a metal.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a plastic.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the at least one shock attenuation material is a ceramic.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , wherein the internal liner is composed of steel.
. The shaped charge case of claim 16 , further comprising a second external shell layered over the external shell.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
