The sole may include an insert opening. The golf club head may include an insert to fit into the insert opening. The insert may include a first insert comprising a core opening, and a first core insertable into the core opening.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A golf club head comprising:
a striking face located at a frontal portion of the golf club head; a crown forming an upper portion of the golf club head, extending rearward from an upper portion of the striking face; a sole forming a lower portion of the golf club head, wherein the sole comprises an insert opening backward of the striking face; and an insert to fit into the insert opening, wherein the insert comprises:
a first insert insertable into the insert opening, wherein the first insert comprises a core opening; and
a first core insertable into the core opening such that the first insert partially surrounds the first core.
2 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the insert opening is located at an insert opening distance from a forward-most portion of an interior surface of the striking face, and wherein the insert opening distance is less than 3.0 mm.
3 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the first insert comprises one of a steel, titanium, tungsten, or aluminum.
4 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the first core comprises a first material, and wherein the first material comprises one of a polyurethane, a urethane, a polycarbonate, a rubber, a plastic, a thermoplastic, or a thermoset.
5 . The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein the first core further comprises a second material, and wherein the first material is denser than the second material.
6 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the first core comprises a second opening, wherein the insert further comprises a second core insertable into the second opening such that the first core partially surrounds the second core.
7 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the golf club head further comprises one or more fasteners.
8 . The golf club head of claim 7 , wherein the first insert comprises retaining elements.
9 . The golf club head of claim 8 , wherein the retaining elements extend onto an interior surface of the sole.
10 . The golf club head of claim 9 , wherein the retaining elements comprise one or more through holes to receive portions of the one or more fasteners.
11 . A golf club head comprising:
a striking face located at a frontal portion of the golf club head; a crown forming an upper portion of the golf club head, extending rearward from an upper portion of the striking face; a sole forming a lower portion of the golf club head; an insert opening backward of the striking face, wherein the insert opening is located at an insert opening distance from a forward-most portion of an interior surface of the striking face, and wherein the insert opening distance is less than 3.0 mm; and an insert to fit into the insert opening, wherein the insert comprises:
a first insert insertable into the insert opening, wherein the first insert comprises a core opening, and wherein the first insert is polymeric; and
a first core insertable into the core opening such that the first insert partially surrounds the first core, and wherein the first core is metallic.
12 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the first insert comprises one of a polyurethane, a urethane, a polycarbonate, a rubber, a plastic, a thermoplastic, or a thermoset.
13 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the first core comprises one of a steel, titanium, tungsten, or aluminum.
14 . The golf club head of claim 13 , wherein the first core further comprises a second material, wherein the first material is denser than the second material.
15 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the first core comprises a second opening, wherein the insert further comprises a second core insertable into the second opening such that the first core partially surrounds the second core.
16 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the golf club head further comprises one or more fasteners.
17 . The golf club head of claim 16 wherein the first insert comprises retaining elements.
18 . The golf club head of claim 17 , wherein the retaining elements extend onto an interior surface of the sole.
19 . The golf club head of claim 18 , wherein the retaining elements comprise one or more through holes to receive portions of the one or more fasteners.
20 . A golf club head comprising:
a striking face located at a frontal portion of the golf club head; a crown forming an upper portion of the golf club head, extending rearward from an upper portion of the striking face; a sole forming a lower portion of the golf club head; an insert opening backward of the striking face; an insert to fit into the insert opening, wherein the insert comprises:
a first insert insertable into the insert opening, wherein the first insert comprises a core opening, wherein the first insert comprises one or more retaining elements extending onto an interior surface of the sole, wherein the one or more retaining elements comprise one or more through holes; and
a first core insertable into the core opening such that the first insert partially surrounds the first core; and
one or more fasteners to at least partially fit through the one or more through holes to secure the insert to the golf club head.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
