Cover for liquid container
Abstract
This disclosure relates to a cover and a water or liquid container using the cover. An example cover includes a base; an opening in the base; a lid hinged to the base, the lid including a retention feature; a pressing ring hinged to the base, the pressing ring releasably couplable with the retention feature and a button pivotally coupled to the base, the button releasably couplable with the retention feature, wherein rotation of the pressing ring releases the pressing ring from the retention feature, causes rotation of the button, and releases the button from the retention feature, wherein release of the pressing ring and the button from the retention feature enables the lid to move from a first position in which the lid covers the opening to a second position in which the opening is exposed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A cover for a liquid container, the cover comprising:
a base; an opening in the base; a lid hinged to the base, the lid including a retention feature; a pressing ring hinged to the base, the pressing ring releasably couplable with the retention feature; and a button pivotally coupled to the base, the button releasably couplable with the retention feature, wherein rotation of the pressing ring releases the pressing ring from the retention feature, causes rotation of the button, and releases the button from the retention feature, wherein release of the pressing ring and the button from the retention feature enables the lid to move from a first position in which the lid covers the opening to a second position in which the opening is exposed.
2 . The cover of claim 1 , further including an elastic reset member to rotate the pressing ring out of engagement with the button.
3 . The cover of claim 2 , wherein the elastic reset member is a spring.
4 . The cover of claim 2 , wherein the elastic reset member is a flexible ring.
5 . The cover of claim 1 , wherein pressing ring includes a snap portion that snap-fits with the retention feature.
6 . The cover of claim 5 , wherein the snap portion is a first snap portion, and the button includes a second snap portion that snap-fits with the retention feature.
7 . The cover of claim 6 , wherein retention feature includes:
a first step that is releasably engageable with the first snap portion; and a second step that is releasably engageable with the second snap portion.
8 . The cover of claim 7 , wherein the second step is positioned below the first step when the lid is in the first position.
9 . The cover of claim 7 , wherein, when the lid is in the first position, the first snap portion is positioned above the first step and the second snap portion is positioned between the first step and the second step.
10 . The cover of claim 1 , further including a biasing member that biases the lid to the second position.
11 . The cover of claim 10 , wherein the biasing member includes a torsion spring.
12 . The cover of claim 1 , wherein the lid is hinged to the base at a first location and at least one of the pressing ring or the button are hinged to the base at a second location, the second location different than the first location.
13 . The cover of claim 12 , wherein the base has a circumference and the first location and the second location are separated about 180 degrees around the circumference.
14 . A water bottle comprising:
a container body; and the cover of claim 1 , releasably couplable to the container body.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
