Fluid management system
Abstract
A fluid management method and system, includes: a garment having a sleeve extending from a shoulder portion of the garment, the sleeve having an interior surface and an exterior surface; and a cuff member attached to the exterior surface of the sleeve, the cuff member comprising a flap having a foldable portion and a seam portion, wherein: the seam portion is attached to the exterior surface of the sleeve by a seaming weld, the foldable portion is configured to be placed in a folded position in which it covers the seam portion and an unfolded position in which it extends proximally outwardly from the seam portion and does not cover the seam portion, the seam portion is configured to receive thereon a first O-ring of a first protective glove worn by a user of the fluid management system, and wherein the seam portion prevents distal sliding of the first O-ring.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A fluid management system, comprising:
a garment having a sleeve extending from a shoulder portion of the garment, the sleeve having an interior surface and an exterior surface; and a cuff member attached to the exterior surface of the sleeve, the cuff member comprising a flap having a foldable portion and a seam portion, wherein: the seam portion is attached to the exterior surface of the sleeve by a seaming weld, the foldable portion is configured to be placed in a folded position in which it covers the seam portion and an unfolded position in which it extends proximally outwardly from the seam portion and does not cover the seam portion, the seam portion is configured to receive thereon a first O-ring of a first protective glove worn by a user of the fluid management system, wherein the seam portion prevents distal sliding of the first O-ring, and in the folded position, the foldable portion is configured to cover the first O-ring of the first protective glove and prevent distal sliding of the first O-ring sandwiched between the seam portion and foldable portion, and prevent distal sliding of a second O-ring of a second protective glove when the second protective glove is worn over the first protective glove and over the foldable portion in the folded state.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the sleeve comprises an impervious material.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the impervious material includes at least one of nonwoven materials, polypropylene, polyester, polyethylene, or combinations thereof.
4 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a wicking layer attached to the interior surface of the sleeve and extending under the cuff member.
5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the wicking layer comprises wool, bamboo, or a micromodal fabric, or a combination of two or more of wool, bamboo and micromodal fabric.
6 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:
the first protective glove configured to be worn over a hand and wrist of the user, wherein in the unfolded position of the flap permits positioning of a first O-ring of the first protective glove around the seaming weld, and wherein, in the folded position, the flap is sized to cover the first O-ring such that the first O-ring is sandwiched between an interior surface of the flap and the seaming weld; and the second protective glove configured to be worn over the first protective glove and over the flap in the folded position such that a second O-ring of the second protective glove is located proximal to the first O-ring and the flap in the folded position, and wherein the flap, when in the folded position, is sandwiched between the first glove and the second glove.
7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein, in the folded position, the flap forms a joint with the seaming weld, the joint protruding radially outward from the exterior surface of the sleeve, wherein the joint is adapted to be positioned distal to the second O-ring of the second protective glove to impede distal movement of the second O-ring of the second protective glove along the sleeve.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the seaming weld is formed by at least one of thermal seaming, chemical seaming, mechanical seaming, welding, glue, other adhesives, adhesive tapes, or combinations thereof.
9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the flap and the seaming weld comprises a material having a higher coefficient of friction than a material of the sleeve.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the flap and seaming weld portion comprises at least one of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), rubber, or combinations thereof.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
