Abstract
Article packaging includes a retention panel and a retention structure formed, at least in part, by the retention panel and configured to engage the article. The retention structure includes a retention surface configured to contact the article. The article packaging also includes a friction coating disposed on at least a portion of the retention surface of the retention structure. The friction coating impedes movement of the article relative to the retention panel.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . Article packaging comprising:
a retention panel; a retention structure formed, at least in part, by the retention panel and configured to engage the article, wherein the retention structure comprises a retention surface configured to contact the article; and a friction coating disposed on at least a portion of the retention surface of the retention structure, wherein the friction coating impedes movement of the article relative to the retention panel.
2 . The article packaging of claim 1 , wherein the friction coating impedes rotational movement of the article relative to the retention panel.
3 . The article packaging of claim 1 , wherein the friction coating impedes linear movement of the article relative to the retention panel.
4 . The article packaging of claim 1 , wherein the retention structure comprises:
a retention aperture formed through the retention panel and configured to receive a portion of the article; and a plurality of retention tabs arranged around the retention aperture and configured to engage the article, wherein each one of the plurality of retention tabs comprises a portion of the retention surface.
5 . The article packaging of claim 4 , wherein the plurality of retention tabs is arranged in an annular series around the retention aperture.
6 . The article packaging of claim 4 , wherein:
the retention panel comprises a panel surface; and the retention surface extends from the panel surface.
7 . The article packaging of claim 6 , wherein the friction coating is disposed on at least a portion of the panel surface.
8 . The article packaging of claim 4 , wherein:
each one of the plurality of retention tabs comprises:
a hinged connection to the retention panel; and
a retention edge that is spaced away from the hinged connection and that is configured to engage the article; and
the friction coating is disposed on at least a portion of the retention surface located between the hinged connection and the retention edge.
9 . The article packaging of claim 1 , wherein:
the retention panel comprises a panel surface; and the retention surface is formed by a portion of the panel surface.
10 . The article packaging of claim 9 , wherein the friction coating is disposed on an entirety of the panel surface.
11 . The article packaging of claim 1 , wherein the friction coating is printed onto at least a portion of the retention surface.
12 . The article packaging of claim 1 , wherein the friction coating comprises an aqueous polymer dispersion.
13 . The article packaging of claim 9 , wherein the friction coating further comprises polyolefins.
14 . The article packaging of claim 1 , wherein the friction coating comprises a status coefficient of friction of approximately 0.81 and a kinetic coefficient of friction of approximately 0.2.
15 . Article packaging comprising:
a retention panel comprising:
a retention aperture configured to receive a portion of the article; and
a plurality of retention tabs arranged around the retention aperture and configured to engage the article, wherein each one of the plurality of retention tabs comprises a retention surface configured to contact the article; and
a friction coating disposed on at least a portion of the retention surface of each one of the plurality of retention tabs, wherein the friction coating impedes rotational movement of the article relative to the retention panel.
16 . The article packaging of claim 15 , wherein:
the retention panel further comprises a panel surface; the retention surface of each one of the plurality of retention tabs extends from the panel surface; and the friction coating is disposed on at least a portion of the panel surface.
17 . Article packaging comprising:
a retention panel comprising a panel surface, wherein a portion of the panel surface is configured to contact an article; and a friction coating disposed on at least the portion of the panel surface configured to contact the article to form a retention surface, wherein the friction coating, forming the retention surface, impedes movement of the article relative to the retention panel.
18 . A blank for forming a article packaging, the blank comprising:
a retention panel; a retention structure formed, at least in part, by the retention panel, wherein the retention structure comprises a retention surface; and a friction coating disposed on at least a portion of the retention surface of the retention structure.
19 . A blank for forming article packaging, the blank comprising:
a retention panel comprising:
a retention aperture; and
a plurality of retention tabs arranged around the retention aperture, wherein each one of the plurality of retention tabs comprises a retention surface; and
a friction coating disposed on at least a portion of the retention surface of each one of the plurality of retention tabs.
20 . A blank for forming article packaging, the blank comprising:
a retention panel comprising a panel surface; and a friction coating disposed on at least a portion of the panel surface to form a retention surface.
21 . A method for forming article packaging, the method comprising:
forming a retention structure, at least in part, by a retention panel of a blank, wherein the retention structure comprises a retention surface; and applying a friction coating on at least a portion of the retention surface.
22 . A method of packaging an article, the method comprising:
engaging the article using a retention structure formed, at least in part, by a retention panel of article packaging, wherein the retention structure comprises a retention surface that contacts the article; and impeding movement of the article relative to the retention panel using a friction coating disposed on at least a portion of the retention surface.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
