The lid has an external cover and an insert. The lid is configured to cover the chamber in a closed position. The lid is configured to provide access to the chamber in an open position. The external cover has an internal surface configured to engage the housing when the lid is in the closed position. The insert is sandwiched between the internal surface and the housing when the lid is in the closed position.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A laundry appliance comprising:
a cabinet defining an internal cavity configured to receive laundry articles for treatment therein; and a dispenser having
a housing defining one or more chambers configured to receive laundry treatment chemicals, wherein each of the one or more chambers are in fluid communication with the internal cavity to facilitate delivery of the treatment chemicals to the internal cavity, and
a lid (i) secured to the housing, (ii) configured to transition between an open position and a closed position, (iii) configured to cover at least one of the one or more chambers in the closed position, and (iv) configured to provide access to the at least one of the one or more chambers in the open position, the lid having
a primary cover (i) movably secured to the housing to facilitate transition of the lid between the open and closed positions and (ii) having an internal surface configured to engage the housing when the lid is in the closed position, and (iii) defining a slot along the internal surface, and
a secondary cover (i) disposed within the slot and (ii) sandwiched between the internal surface of the primary cover and the housing when the lid is in the closed position.
2 . The laundry appliance of claim 1 , wherein (i) the primary cover has a gasket protruding from the internal surface and (ii) the gasket includes an overhang such that the slot is formed between the overhang and the internal surface.
3 . The laundry appliance of claim 2 , wherein the gasket forms an open loop along the internal surface and (ii) the open loop has ends that (a) are spaced-apart and (b) each extend to a common edge of the primary cover.
4 . The laundry appliance of claim 2 , wherein the secondary cover has a ridge that protrudes outward from at least a portion of an outer periphery of the secondary cover.
5 . The laundry appliance of claim 4 , wherein the ridge is sandwiched between the overhang and the internal surface of the primary cover to facilitate securing the secondary cover to the primary cover.
6 . The laundry appliance of claim 1 , wherein the secondary cover is formed of a material having anti-fungal properties.
7 . The laundry appliance of claim 1 , wherein (i) the primary cover is formed of a first material, (ii) the secondary cover is formed of a second material, and (iii) the second material is harder than the first material.
8 . The laundry appliance of claim 1 , wherein the secondary cover is positioned on the primary cover such that the secondary cover is disposed over the at least one of the one or more chambers when the lid is in the closed position.
9 . A dispenser for a laundry appliance comprising:
a housing defining a chamber configured to receive laundry treatment chemicals; and a lid secured to the housing, the lid having (i) an external cover and (ii) an insert secured to the external cover, wherein (a) the lid is configured to cover the chamber in a closed position, (b) the lid is configured to provide access to the chamber in an open position, (c) the external cover has an internal surface configured to engage the housing when the lid is in the closed position, and (d) the insert is sandwiched between the internal surface and the housing when the lid is in the closed position.
10 . The dispenser of claim 9 , wherein (i) the external cover defines a slot along the internal surface and (ii) the insert is disposed within the slot.
11 . The dispenser of claim 10 , wherein (i) the external cover has an L-shaped gasket protruding from the internal surface and (ii) the slot is formed between the L-shaped gasket and the internal surface.
12 . The dispenser of claim 11 , wherein gasket form an open loop along the internal surface and (ii) the open loop has ends that (a) are spaced-apart and (b) each extend to a common edge of the external cover.
13 . The dispenser of claim 11 , wherein the insert has a ridge that protrudes outward from at least a portion of an outer periphery of the insert.
14 . The dispenser of claim 13 , wherein the ridge is sandwiched between an end of the L-shaped gasket and the internal surface to facilitate securing the insert to the external cover.
15 . The dispenser of claim 9 , wherein the insert is positioned on the external cover such that the insert is disposed over the chamber when the lid is in the closed position.
16 . A dispenser for a laundry appliance comprising:
a housing defining first and second chambers, each configured to receive laundry treatment chemicals; and first and second lids (i) each secured to the housing, (ii) configured to cover the first and second chambers, respectively, in closed positions, (iii) configured to provide access to the first and second chambers, respectively, in open positions, wherein each of the first and second lids includes (a) an outer cover and (b) an insert secured to the outer cover.
17 . The dispenser of claim 16 , wherein (i) each outer cover has an internal surface and defines a slot along the corresponding internal surface and (ii) each of the inserts is disposed within one of the slots.
18 . The dispenser of claim 17 , wherein (i) each outer cover has an L-shaped gasket protruding from the corresponding internal surface and (ii) the corresponding slot defined by each outer cover is formed between the corresponding L-shaped gasket and the corresponding internal surface.
19 . The dispenser of claim 18 , wherein each insert has a ridge that protrudes outward from at least a portion of an outer periphery of each insert.
20 . The dispenser of claim 19 , wherein each ridge is sandwiched between an end of the corresponding L-shaped gasket and the corresponding internal surface to facilitate securing each insert to the corresponding outer cover.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
