Mattress assembly and method
Abstract
A mattress assembly includes a chassis having top and bottom walls and first and second sidewalls that each extend from the top wall to the bottom wall. Inner surfaces of the walls and the sidewalls define an interior cavity. The top and bottom walls each include a first section that is connected to the first sidewall and a second section that is connected to the second sidewall such that the first sections are pivotable relative to the first sidewall and the second sections are pivotable relative to the second sidewall. The first section of the top wall is pivotable relative to the second section of the top wall and the first section of the bottom wall is pivotable relative to the second section of the bottom wall. A spring assembly is configured to be positioned within the interior cavity.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 20 . (canceled)
21 . A bedding system comprising:
a chassis comprising a base layer, opposite first and second walls and opposite third and fourth walls, the walls each extending upwardly from the base layer, the chassis defining a cavity; a cover coupled to the walls; first and second spring assemblies positioned in the cavity, the second spring assembly being removably coupled to the first spring assembly, the spring assemblies each comprising a plurality of springs; and a topper removably coupled to the cover by a zipper.
22 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the third and fourth walls are each movable relative to the first and second walls.
23 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the second spring assembly has a firmness that is different than that of the first spring assembly.
24 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the cover covers outer surfaces of the walls.
25 . The bedding system recited in claim 24 , wherein opposite inner surfaces of the walls define a portion of the cavity.
26 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the topper is positioned over the spring assemblies.
27 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the base layer extends continuously from the first wall to the second wall and continuously from the third wall to the fourth wall.
28 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the walls are each permanently coupled to the base layer.
29 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , further comprising a barrier layer positioned between the topper and the spring assemblies.
30 . The bedding system recited in claim 29 , wherein the barrier layer is removably attached to the cover.
31 . The bedding system recited in claim 29 , wherein the zipper is a first zipper and the barrier layer is removably attached to the cover by a second zipper.
32 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the cavity defines a perimeter, the zipper being positioned about the perimeter such that the zipper extends entirely around the perimeter.
33 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the spring assemblies each extend continuously from the first wall to the second wall.
34 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the first spring assembly is removable from the cavity independent of the second spring assembly.
35 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the spring assemblies are identical.
36 . The bedding system recited in claim 21 , wherein the spring assemblies each include a plurality of springs positioned within a pocket, the pockets being coupled to one another to form a string of pockets that each include one of springs therein.
37 . The bedding system recited in claim 36 , wherein the strings of pockets each include a slit between adjacent pockets to allow the springs to move independently of one another.
38 . The bedding system recited in claim 37 , wherein the slits extend through top surfaces of the strings of pockets between adjacent pockets.
39 . A bedding system comprising:
a chassis comprising a base layer, opposite first and second walls and opposite third and fourth walls, the third and fourth walls are each movable relative to the first and second walls, the walls each extending upwardly from the base layer, the base layer and inner surfaces of the walls defining a cavity; a cover coupled to outer surfaces of the walls; first and second spring assemblies positioned in the cavity, the second spring assembly having a firmness that is different than that of the first spring assembly, the second spring assembly being removably coupled to the first spring assembly, the spring assemblies each comprising a plurality of springs; and a topper removably coupled to the cover by a zipper such that the topper is positioned over the spring assemblies.
40 . A bedding system comprising:
a chassis comprising a base layer, opposite first and second walls and opposite third and fourth walls, the third and fourth walls are each movable relative to the first and second walls, the walls each extending upwardly from the base layer, the base layer and inner surfaces of the walls defining a cavity; a cover coupled to outer surfaces of the walls; first and second spring assemblies positioned in the cavity, the second spring assembly being removably coupled to the first spring assembly, the spring assemblies each comprising a plurality of springs positioned within a pocket, the pockets being coupled to one another to form a string of pockets that each include one of springs therein, the strings of pockets each including a slit between adjacent pockets to allow the springs to move independently of one another; and a topper removably coupled to the cover by a zipper such that the topper is positioned over the spring assemblies.Cited by (0)
