Abstract

A carbon dioxide blocking system is provided comprising a sheeting material treated with a waterproofing agent such that the carbon dioxide blocking system is fully, or nearly fully, impermeable to liquids and gases. The sheeting material may be a microfiber polyester woven sheeting material and the waterproofing agent may be thermoplastic polyurethane. The sheeting material is treated with the waterproofing agent. The treated material comprises a single layer of fabric. The sheeting material provides a soft upper surface, like a sheet, while the waterproofing agent imparts impermeability to the sheeting material such that the carbon dioxide blocking system may serve as a mattress protector to block liquids and also to block the permeability and retention of carbon dioxide to help prevent carbon dioxide rebreathing.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A carbon dioxide blocking system, the system comprising:
a single layer of treated fabric, wherein the treated fabric comprises a sheeting material treated with a waterproofing agent; wherein the fabric has a top surface and the top surface has a texture reflecting that of untreated sheeting material; wherein the waterproofing agent is impermeable to liquids and gases; wherein the system is configured as a carbon dioxide blocking sheet and mattress protector.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the sheeting material comprises a microfiber sheeting material.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the waterproofing agent comprises thermoplastic polyurethane.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the sheeting material comprises a microfiber polyester woven sheeting material and the waterproofing agent comprises thermoplastic polyurethane.

5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the waterproofing agent is heat cured with the sheeting material.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the waterproofing agent is provided along a bottom surface of the sheeting material.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the waterproofing agent is acrylic or polyurethane.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the sheeting material comprises a blend of polyester microfiber fabric having a mix of 75 denier and 160 denier poly fibers, a fabric weight (80 GSM) and a woven construction (Weft 60 and Warp 91 Thread Count prior to coating).

9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the single layer of treated fabric has a perimeter and wherein elastic is provided along the perimeter.

10 . A carbon dioxide blocking system configured as a blocking sheet and mattress protector, the system comprising:
a layer of treated fabric, wherein the treated fabric comprises a sheeting material treated with a waterproofing agent; wherein the fabric has a top surface and the top surface has a texture reflecting that of untreated sheeting material; wherein the waterproofing agent is impermeable to liquids and gases; wherein the single layer of treated fabric has a shape including the top surface, sides, corners, and a perimeter, wherein each of the corners defines a pocket; wherein, when placed on a mattress, the perimeter is positioned under the mattress; wherein the perimeter includes elastic provided thereupon.

11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the elastic is provided continuously along the perimeter.

12 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the elastic is provided intermittently along the perimeter.

13 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the pockets are sized to accommodate a full size crib mattress.

14 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the pockets are sized to accommodate a mini-crib, a cradle, a bassinet, a play yard, or a changing pad.

15 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the sheeting material comprises a microfiber sheeting material.

16 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the waterproofing agent comprises thermoplastic polyurethane.

17 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the sheeting material comprises a microfiber polyester woven sheeting material and the waterproofing agent comprises thermoplastic polyurethane.

18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the waterproofing agent is heat cured with the sheeting material.

19 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the waterproofing agent is provided along a bottom surface of the sheeting material.

20 . A carbon dioxide blocking sheet and mattress protector comprising:
a single layer of treated fabric, wherein the treated fabric comprises a microfiber sheeting material treated with a waterproofing agent; wherein the fabric has a soft top surface; wherein the waterproofing agent is thermoplastic polyurethane, wherein the thermoplastic polyurethane is heat cured with the sheeting material; wherein the single layer of treated fabric has a shape including the top surface, sides, corners, and a perimeter, wherein each of the corners defines a pocket; wherein, when placed on a mattress, the perimeter is positioned under the mattress; wherein the perimeter includes elastic provided thereupon.
