Abstract

A paper well suited for use as a wrapper in heat but not burn sticks is disclosed. The paper includes a base web made from cellulosic fibers combined with a flame retardant filler and/or can include a coating formed from a reduced ignition composition.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 16 . (canceled)

17 . A wrapper for a heat but not burn stick comprising:
a base web, the base web having a first side and a second and opposite side, the base web comprising a flame retardant filler, the flame retardant filler comprising calcium carbonate, the flame retardant filler being present in the base web in amount less than about 24 wt. %; and a continuous coating disposed on the first side of the base web, the coating comprising a reduced ignition composition, the reduced ignition composition comprising a polymer material, a cellulose material, or mixtures thereof, the base web having a permeability where coated with the reduced ignition composition of less than about 5 CU and having a diffusivity of less than 0.04 cm/s, the coating having a basis weight from about 0.5 gsm to about 10 gsm.

18 . A wrapper as defined in claim 17 , wherein the reduced ignition composition comprises an alginate, a starch, or mixtures thereof.

19 . A wrapper as defined in claim 17 , wherein the reduced ignition composition covers greater than about 80% of the surface area of the first side of the base web.

20 . A wrapper as defined in claim 17 , wherein the base web contains the flame retardant filler in an amount from about 10% to about 40% by weight.

         21 . (canceled)

22 . A wrapper as defined in claim 17 , wherein the base web has an inherent permeability of from about 0 CU to about 20 CU and has a basis weight of from about 12 gsm to about 100 gsm.

23 . A wrapper as defined in claim 17 , wherein the wrapper is a single layer wrapper.

24 . A wrapper as defined in claim 17 , wherein the wrapper includes a plurality of layers, the base web comprising one of the layers.

25 . A wrapper as defined in claim 17 , wherein the wrapper comprises an aerosol generating material, the aerosol generating material comprising a tobacco.

26 . A wrapper for a heat but not burn stick comprising:
a base web, the base web having a first side and a second and opposite side, the base web comprising a flame retardant filler, the flame retardant filler comprising calcium carbonate, the flame retardant filler being present in the base web in amount less than about 40 wt. %; and a continuous coating disposed on the first side of the base web, the coating comprising a reduced ignition composition, the reduced ignition composition comprising a polymer material, a cellulose material, or mixtures thereof, the base web having a permeability where coated with the reduced ignition composition of less than about 5 CU and having a diffusivity of less than 0.04 cm/s, the first side of the base web having a surface area and wherein the reduced ignition composition covers greater than about 90% of the surface area of the first side of the base web.

27 . A wrapper as defined in claim 26 , wherein the reduced ignition composition comprises an alginate, a starch, or mixtures thereof.

28 . A wrapper as defined in claim 26 , wherein the base web contains the flame retardant filler in an amount from about 10% to about 40% by weight.

29 . A wrapper as defined in claim 26 , wherein the base web has an inherent permeability of from about 0 CU to about 20 CU and has a basis weight of from about 12 gsm to about 100 gsm.

30 . A wrapper as defined in claim 26 , wherein the wrapper is a single layer wrapper.

31 . A wrapper as defined in claim 26 , wherein the wrapper includes a plurality of layers, the base web comprising one of the layers.

32 . A wrapper as defined in claim 26 , wherein the wrapper comprises an aerosol generating material, the aerosol generating material comprising a tobacco.

33 . A wrapper for a heat but not burn stick comprising:
a plurality of layers, the plurality of layers comprising an outer layer and an inner layer, the inner layer comprising a base web, the base web having a first side and a second and opposite side, the base web comprising a flame retardant filler, the flame retardant filler being present in the base web in amount less than about 40 wt. %; and a continuous coating disposed on the first side of the base web, the coating comprising a reduced ignition composition, the reduced ignition composition comprising a polymer material, a cellulose material, or mixtures thereof, the base web having a permeability where coated with the reduced ignition composition of less than about 5 CU and having a diffusivity of less than 0.04 cm/s.

34 . A wrapper as defined in claim 33 , wherein the reduced ignition composition comprises an alginate, a starch, or mixtures thereof.

35 . A wrapper as defined in claim 33 , wherein the base web has an inherent permeability of from about 0 CU to about 20 CU and has a basis weight of from about 12 gsm to about 100 gsm.
