Abstract

A cartridge for a vapour generating device includes a liquid store for containing a vapour generating liquid and a vaporization device including a heating element including a substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor positioned beneath the liquid store and arranged coaxially with respect to a central longitudinal axis of the cartridge. The cartridge includes at least one channel or opening which connects the liquid store to the vaporization device and a porous liquid transfer element positioned adjacent to the channel or opening and arranged to hold and transfer vapour generating liquid from the liquid store to the vaporization device. The inductively heatable susceptor is arranged in thermal proximity to the porous liquid transfer element to heat and vaporize the vapour generating liquid.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A cartridge for a vapour generating device, the cartridge comprising:
a liquid store for containing a vapour generating liquid; a vaporization device including a heating element comprising at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor positioned beneath the liquid store and arranged coaxially with respect to a central longitudinal axis of the cartridge; at least one channel or opening which connects the liquid store to the vaporization device; and a porous liquid transfer element positioned adjacent to the at least one channel or opening and arranged to hold and transfer vapour generating liquid from the at least one channel or opening to the vaporization device by capillary action; wherein the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor is arranged in thermal proximity to the porous liquid transfer element to heat and vaporize the vapour generating liquid held and transferred to the vaporization device by the porous liquid transfer element.

2 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor extends around an outer surface of the porous liquid transfer element.

3 . The cartridge according to claim 2 , wherein the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor fully surrounds the outer surface of the porous liquid transfer element.

4 . The cartridge according to claim 2 , wherein the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor includes an inner surface that contacts the outer surface of the porous liquid transfer element.

5 . The cartridge according to claim 4 , wherein the outer surface of the porous liquid transfer element is substantially frusto-conical and the inner surface of the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor has a corresponding substantially frusto-conical shape.

6 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor comprises a susceptor ring, a plurality of susceptor rings spaced along the central longitudinal axis of the cartridge, or a susceptor tube.

7 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor comprises an electrically conductive material.

8 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor has a thickness up to 150 μm.

9 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one channel or opening is configured to provide a sufficient supply of vapour generating liquid from the liquid store to the porous liquid transfer element whilst limiting thermal energy transfer from the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor or the porous liquid transfer element to the liquid store.

10 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the liquid store comprises a sealing element at a distal end and the sealing element includes the at least one channel or opening.

11 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one channel or opening extends obliquely with respect to the central longitudinal axis of the cartridge.

12 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the porous liquid transfer element comprises a porous ceramic.

13 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the porous liquid transfer element includes a proximal end adjacent to the liquid store and an opposite distal end having a step.

14 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , further comprising an induction coil surrounding the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor.

15 . A vapour generating system comprising a vapour generating device and the cartridge according to claim 1 releasably connected to the vapour generating device.

16 . The cartridge according to claim 7 , wherein the electrically conductive material is a metal, and the metal is at least one of mild steel, stainless steel, or low carbon stainless steel.

17 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor has a thickness between 30 μm and 150 μm.

18 . The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one substantially cylindrical inductively heatable susceptor has a thickness of 100 μm.
