Abstract
A child resistant package comprises first and second oppositely disposed sides, and third and fourth oppositely disposed sides. The third side connects the first and second sides along a first edge, and the fourth side connects the first and second sides along a second edge. A tear strip is disposed along the first, third, and fourth sides, and has a free end exposed on the third side. An opaque film is disposed on the third side over the free end.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A child resistant package, comprising:
a first side; a second side disposed opposite the first side; a third side that connects the first side and the second side along a first edge; a fourth side disposed opposite the third side, the fourth side connecting the first side and the second side along a second edge; a tear strip disposed along the first side, the third side, and the fourth side, the tear strip having a free end exposed on the third side; and an opaque film disposed on the third side over the free end.
2 . The child resistant package of claim 1 , wherein the opaque film is configured to have an appearance that makes it indistinguishable from the third side.
3 . The child resistant package of claim 1 , wherein the opaque film is disposed over the free end via an adhesive.
4 . The child resistant package of claim 3 , wherein an edge portion of the opaque film lacks the adhesive.
5 . The child resistant package of claim 4 , wherein the edge portion extends between the first side and the second side.
6 . The child resistant package of claim 1 , wherein a distance between the first side and the second side is less than a distance between the third side and the fourth side.
7 . The child resistant package of claim 1 , wherein the opaque film is a label.
8 . The child resistant package of claim 1 , wherein the tear strip is made from a different material than the first side, the second side, the third side, and the fourth side.
9 . The child resistant package of claim 1 , wherein pulling the tear strip across the first side, the third side, and the fourth side separates an end portion of the package, wherein the separated end portion is configured to rotate open along a living hinge disposed in the second side.
10 . A child resistant package, comprising:
a first side; a second side disposed opposite the first side; a third side that connects the first side and the second side along a first edge; a fourth side disposed opposite the third side, wherein the fourth side connects the first side and the second side along a second edge, wherein a distance between the first side and the second side is less than a distance between the third side and the fourth side; a tear strip disposed along the first side, the third side, and the fourth side, and having a free end exposed on the third side; and an opaque film disposed on the third side over the free end via an adhesive.
11 . The child resistant package of claim 10 , wherein the opaque film is configured to have an appearance that makes it indistinguishable from the third side.
12 . The child resistant package of claim 11 , wherein an edge portion of the opaque film extending between the first side and the second side lacks the adhesive.
13 . The child resistant package of claim 11 , wherein the opaque film is a label and comprises instructions for opening the package.
14 . The child resistant package of claim 10 , wherein the tear strip is made from a different material than the first side, the second side, the third side, and the fourth side.
15 . The child resistant package of claim 10 , wherein pulling the tear strip across the first side, the third side, and the fourth side separates an end portion of the child resistant package, and wherein the separated end portion is configured to rotate open along a living hinge disposed in the second side.
16 . A child resistant opening feature for a package, comprising:
a tear strip disposed along a first side, a second side, and a third side of the package, wherein the first side, the second side, and the third side are adjacent, and wherein the second side is disposed between the first side and the third side, and wherein the tear strip has a free end exposed on the first side; and an opaque film disposed on the first side over the free end, wherein the opaque film is configured to have an appearance that makes it indistinguishable from the first side.
17 . The child resistant opening feature of claim 16 , wherein an edge portion of the opaque film lacks the adhesive.
18 . The child resistant opening feature of claim 16 , wherein the opaque film is a label and comprises instructions for opening the package.
19 . The child resistant opening feature of claim 16 , wherein the tear strip is made from a different material than the first side, the second side, and the third side.
20 . The child resistant opening feature of claim 16 , wherein pulling the tear strip across the first side, the second side, and the third side separates an end portion of the package, and wherein the separated end portion is configured to rotate open along a living hinge disposed in a fourth side opposite the second side.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
