Abstract
A smoking article includes a sheet material including a fibrous layer formed of cellulosic fibres and at least 50% by weight of inorganic filler material having a particle size in range of from 0.1 microns and 50 microns, wherein the sheet material has a tensile strength of at least 900 N/m. The fibrous layer includes a binder material, such as an organic binder material. The organic binder material can be a cellulosic binder material. A coating layer may be provided on at least one side of the fibrous layer.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . (canceled)
2 . A heat resistant sheet material for a smoking article, the heat resistant sheet material comprising:
an inorganic filler material including a plurality of spherical-shaped particles, an average particle size of the plurality of spherical-shaped particles being greater than or equal to 0.1 micrometers to less than or equal to 50 micrometers.
3 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 2 , wherein the inorganic filler material includes calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ), calcium sulphate (CaSO 4 ), aluminum trihydroxide without crystal bound water (Al(OH) 3 ·3H 2 O), aluminum (III) oxide (Al 2 0 3 ), or any combination thereof.
4 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of spherical-shaped particles have an average particle size greater than or equal to 0.1 micrometers to less than or equal to 30 micrometers.
5 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of spherical-shaped particles have an average particle size greater than or equal to 0.3 micrometers to less than or equal to 3 micrometers.
6 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 2 , further comprising:
a fibrous layer that includes the inorganic filler material.
7 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 6 , wherein the fibrous layer includes the inorganic filler material in an amount greater than or equal to 50% by weight.
8 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 6 , further comprising:
cellulose fibers.
9 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 8 , wherein the fibrous layer includes the cellulosic fibers in an amount less than or equal to 40% by weight.
10 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 6 , further comprising:
an organic binder.
11 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 10 , wherein the fibrous layer includes the organic binder in an amount greater than or equal to 0.1% to less than or equal to 10% by weight.
12 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 10 , wherein the fibrous layer includes the organic binder in an amount greater than or equal to 0.5% to less than or equal to 5% by weight.
13 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 10 , wherein the organic binder includes anionic starch, cationic starch, guar gum, xanthan gum, casein, polyvinyl alcohol, or any combination thereof.
14 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 6 , further comprising:
a processing aid.
15 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 14 , wherein the fibrous layer includes the processing aid in an amount less than or equal to 0.5% by weight.
16 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 14 , wherein the processing aid includes flocculants, coagulants, or both flocculants and coagulants.
17 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 6 , further comprising:
a coating layer at least partially covering at least one side of the fibrous layer.
18 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 17 , wherein
the fibrous layer has a weight greater than or equal to 70 grams per square meter to less than or equal to 130 grams per square meter; and the coating layer has a weight of 5 grams per square meter to 75 grams per square meter.
19 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 17 , wherein
the inorganic filler material is a first inorganic filler material, and the coating layer includes a second inorganic filler material and.
20 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 17 , wherein the coating layer includes an organic binder.
21 . The heat resistant sheet material of claim 17 , wherein
the coating layer is a first coating layer at least partially covering a first side of the fibrous layer, and the heat resistant sheet material further comprises:
a second coating layer at least partially covering a second side of the fibrous layer.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
