Golf club having an adjustable weight assembly

Abstract

The present invention relates to a golf club head having an adjustable weight assembly and additive manufactured fill. For example, the golf club head may include an internal cavity including an additive manufactured fill. The golf club head may include an adjustable weight assembly utilizing a weight member securable via a fastener along various positions within an elongate channel.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A golf club head comprising:
 a striking face portion located at a frontal portion of said golf club head;   a body portion attached to a rear of said striking face portion; and   an internal cavity defined by said striking face portion and said body portion, wherein said internal cavity comprises an additive manufactured fill; and   wherein said body portion incorporates a weight adjustment portion further comprising;
 an elongate channel further comprising a plurality of scalloped depressions along a lower wall of said elongate channel, 
 a weight member having a fastener receiving aperture, and 
 a fastener further comprising a fastener head and a threaded shaft, 
   wherein said fastener head is adapted to engage at least one of said plurality of scalloped depressions to secure said weight member within said elongate channel.   
     
     
         2 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises one of a metal, a polymer, and a ceramic. 
     
     
         3 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises a lattice structure. 
     
     
         4 . The golf club head of  claim 3 , wherein said lattice structure comprises:
 a first lattice structure portion comprising a first lattice structure density; and   a second lattice structure portion comprising a second lattice structure density, wherein said second lattice structure density is less dense than said first lattice structure density.   
     
     
         5 . The golf club head of  claim 3 , wherein said lattice structure comprises a lattice structure volume more than about 30% of an internal cavity volume. 
     
     
         6 . The golf club head of  claim 3 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises less than about 10% of an internal cavity volume. 
     
     
         7 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises a material density that is less than about 30% of a striking face density. 
     
     
         8 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises a first weight that is less than 25% of a total weight. 
     
     
         9 . A golf club head comprising:
 a striking face portion located at a frontal portion of said golf club head;   a body portion attached to a rear of said striking face portion; and   an internal cavity defined by said striking face portion and said body portion, wherein said internal cavity comprises an additive manufactured fill.   
     
     
         10 . The golf club head of  claim 9 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises one of a metal, a polymer, and a ceramic. 
     
     
         11 . The golf club head of  claim 9 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises a lattice structure. 
     
     
         12 . The golf club head of  claim 11 , wherein said lattice structure comprises:
 a first lattice structure portion comprising a first lattice structure density; and   a second lattice structure portion comprising a second lattice structure density, wherein said first lattice structure density is less dense than said second lattice structure density.   
     
     
         13 . The golf club head of  claim 11 , wherein said lattice structure comprises more than about 30% of an internal cavity volume. 
     
     
         14 . The golf club head of  claim 9 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises less than about 10% of an internal cavity volume. 
     
     
         15 . The golf club head of  claim 9 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises a material density that is less than about 30% of a striking face density. 
     
     
         16 . The golf club head of  claim 9 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises a first weight that is less than 25% of a total weight. 
     
     
         17 . A golf club head comprising:
 a striking face portion located at a frontal portion of said golf club head;   a body portion attached to a rear of said striking face portion; and   an internal cavity defined by said striking face portion and said body portion, wherein said internal cavity comprises an additive manufactured fill, and wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises a lattice structure.   
     
     
         18 . The golf club head of  claim 17 , wherein said lattice structure comprises:
 a first lattice structure portion comprising a first lattice structure density; and   a second lattice structure portion comprising a second lattice structure density, wherein said second lattice structure density is less dense than said first lattice structure density.   
     
     
         19 . The golf club head of  claim 17 , wherein said lattice structure comprises more than about 30% of an internal cavity volume. 
     
     
         20 . The golf club head of  claim 17 , wherein said additive manufactured fill comprises less than about 10% of an internal cavity volume.
