Abstract

According to an aspect, there is provided a snug-fit garment covering at least a portion of a wearer's body and methods of making same. The garment includes a double-layered sleeve having a width and length. The double-layered sleeve including an inner sleeve layer and an outer sleeve layer. The outer sleeve layer at least partially overlaps with the inner sleeve layer. At least one of the outer sleeve layer and the inner sleeve layer is compressive. A space is defined between the inner and outer sleeve layers. The garment also includes one or more permanent or detachable attachments between the inner and outer sleeve layers for securing the outer sleeve layer over the inner sleeve layer thereby preserving the space between the inner and outer sleeve layers. The space includes at least one pocket for storing an object.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A snug-fit garment covering at least a portion of a wearer's body comprising:
a double-layered sleeve having a width and length, the double-layered sleeve comprising an inner sleeve layer and an outer sleeve layer, wherein the outer sleeve layer at least partially overlaps with the inner sleeve layer, wherein at least one of the outer sleeve layer and the inner sleeve layer is compressive, and wherein a space is defined between the inner and outer sleeve layers; and one or more permanent or detachable attachments between the inner and outer sleeve layers for securing the outer sleeve layer over the inner sleeve layer thereby preserving the space between the inner and outer sleeve layers, wherein said space comprise at least one pocket for storing an object.

2 . The garment of claim 1 , wherein the double-layered sleeve comprises an elongated tube, the elongated tube comprising an inner sleeve portion proximate a first end of the elongated tube, an outer sleeve portion proximate a second end of the elongated tube, a fold along a transverse width between the inner and outer sleeve portions, and wherein the outer sleeve portion is inverted and folded over at least a part of the inner sleeve portion such that the outer sleeve portion covers around the inner sleeve portion to form the double-layered sleeve.

3 . The garment of claim 2 , wherein the outer sleeve portion is substantially folded over the length of the inner sleeve portion, such that the first and second ends of the elongated tube overlap or are proximate to each other, at least one of the one or more permanent or detachable attachments is formed proximate to the first and second ends of the elongated tube.

4 . The garment of claim 1 , wherein the one or more permanent or detachable attachments comprise a seam, a heat bonded seam, and/or adhesive bonded seam.

5 . The garment of claim 1 , comprising a plurality of attachments that divide the space between the inner and outer sleeve layers into a plurality of segments, each segment comprising a pocket having a storage space, and wherein the outer sleeve layer comprises one or more openings in continuity with the storage space defined by the one or more of the plurality of pockets.

6 . The garment of claim 5 , wherein the storage spaces are continuous with each other.

7 . The garment of claim 1 , wherein the double-layered sleeve comprises one or more zones, wherein each zone imparts a different attribute to the double-layered sleeve.

8 . The garment of claim 7 , wherein the attribute comprises one or more of fabric weights, compression, elasticity, recovery, and breathability.

9 . The garment of claim 7 , wherein the one or more zones comprise one or more of a bicep zone, an elbow zone, an inner elbow zone, a forearm zone, and a wrist zone, each with a different attribute.

10 . The garment of claim 1 , wherein the double-layered sleeve comprises a moisture-wicking material, a moisture-retaining material, or a combination thereof for active cooling.

11 . The garment of claim 1 , wherein the object is ice.

12 . The garment of claim 11 , wherein the inner sleeve layer comprises a material thicker than the outer sleeve layer for insulating the skin against ice when worn.

13 . The garment of claim 1 , wherein the double-layered sleeve comprises one or more tabs.

14 . A method of manufacturing an athletic sleeve, the method comprising:
knitting an inner sleeve layer and an outer sleeve layer; inserting the inner sleeve layer within the outer sleeve layer to form a double-layered sleeve, wherein a space is defined between the inner and outer sleeve layers; affixing the outer sleeve layer to the inner sleeve layer at one or more attachment points along the length of the double-layered sleeve, wherein said space comprise at least one pocket for storing an object.

         15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein:
knitting the inner sleeve layer and the outer sleeve layer comprises knitting an elongated tube having an inner sleeve portion proximate a first end of the elongated tube and a outer sleeve portion proximate a second end of the elongated knit tube; inserting the inner sleeve layer within the outer sleeve layer comprises:
 folding the elongated tube along a fold along a transverse width of the elongated tube between the inner and outer sleeve portions;
inverting the outer sleeve portion to fold said outer sleeve portion over at least partway along the inner sleeve portion such that the outer sleeve portion covers around the inner sleeve portion forming the double-layered sleeve and the space defined between the inner and outer sleeve portions.

16 . The method of claim 15 , comprising affixing the outer sleeve portion to the inner sleeve portion such that the first and second ends of the elongated tube overlap or are proximate to each other.

17 . The method of claim 15 , comprising affixing the outer sleeve portion to the inner sleeve portion at a top attachment point proximate to the first and second ends of the elongated tube.

         18 . The method of claim 14 , comprising:
affixing the outer sleeve layer to the inner sleeve layer at a plurality of attachment points along the length of the inner sleeve layer; and forming a pocket between each adjacent pair of the plurality of attachment points.

19 . The method of claim 14 , wherein knitting the inner sleeve layer and the outer sleeve layer comprises knitting a stitch pattern or with a material to form one or more zones, each zone imparting an attribute to the double-layered sleeve.

20 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising knitting or attaching one or more tab to the double-layered sleeve.
