Smoking substitute apparatus

Abstract

Provided is a smoking substitute apparatus (150, 50a, 250) with a baffle (502, 602) provided in the vaporisation chamber (280) for improving the characteristics and flow of vapour from the chamber to the user.

1 . A smoking substitute apparatus for delivery of an aerosol to a user drawing air through the apparatus, the apparatus comprising:
 an air inlet;   an outlet;   an air flow path between the air inlet and the outlet;   a chimney in fluid communication with the air flow path;   a vaporisation chamber in fluid communication with the chimney via a chimney entrance;   the vaporisation chamber having an aerosol generator configured to generate an aerosol from an aerosol precursor;   the chimney being positioned such that in use aerosol generated by the aerosol generator flows through the chimney to the outlet;   the aerosol generator comprising an elongate heater having a major axis;   the vaporisation chamber also having an elongate baffle positioned between the aerosol generator and the chimney entrance, the baffle partially occluding the chimney entrance and oriented in a direction parallel to the major axis of the heater.   
     
     
         2 . A smoking substitute apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the baffle is shaped so as to bifurcate the air flow path around the baffle, whereafter the bifurcated paths converge. 
     
     
         3 . A smoking substitute apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the baffle and heater are sized such that, when viewed from the chimney entrance, the heater is entirely obscured by the baffle. 
     
     
         4 . A smoking substitute apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the baffle is spaced from the chimney entrance. 
     
     
         5 . A smoking substitute apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the baffle is positioned midway between the heater and the chimney entrance.

A smoking substitute apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the air flow path connects the air inlet to the vaporisation chamber and the chimney to the outlet, such that in use air flows from the air inlet to the vaporisation chamber; from the vaporisation chamber to the chimney, and from the chimney to the outlet in that order. 
     
     
         7 . A smoking substitute apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the vaporisation chamber has a cross section having a longest dimension, and wherein the baffle is orientated to extends across the vaporisation chamber along the longest dimension.
