Table-top lighters

Abstract

Lighters are disclosed herein. An example lighter includes a base and a flame ignition assembly at least partially disposed in the base. The flame ignition assembly includes a nozzle. The example lighter also includes a button having an opening. The nozzle is disposed in the opening of the button. The is button to, when depressed, cause the flame ignition assembly to produce a flame at the nozzle.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A lighter comprising:
 a base having a first opening;   a flame ignition assembly supported by the base, the flame ignition assembly including a nozzle; and   a button having a second opening, the nozzle disposed in the second opening, the button including:
 a platform spaced from the base; and 
 a guide extending from the platform and into the first opening, the button to, when triggered, cause the flame ignition assembly to produce a flame at the nozzle. 
   
     
     
         2 . The lighter of  claim 1 , wherein the button is moveable relative to the base between an extended position and a depressed position. 
     
     
         3 . The lighter of  claim 2 , wherein the base has a longitudinal axis, and wherein the button is moveable linearly along the longitudinal axis between the extended position and the depressed position. 
     
     
         4 . The lighter of  claim 2 , further including a nozzle guide extending outward from the first opening of the base, the nozzle disposed in the nozzle guide, the nozzle guide at least partially disposed in the second opening of the button. 
     
     
         5 . The lighter of  claim 4 , wherein the nozzle guide is disposed below a top side of the platform when the button is in the extended position, and wherein the nozzle guide extends from the top side of the platform when the button is in the depressed position. 
     
     
         6 . The lighter of  claim 5 , wherein the button is slidable along an outer surface of the nozzle guide as the button is moved between the extended position and the depressed position. 
     
     
         7 . The lighter of  claim 1 , wherein a longitudinal axis of the button is coaxial with a longitudinal axis of the base. 
     
     
         8 . The lighter of  claim 7 , wherein a central axis of the second opening is coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the base. 
     
     
         9 . The lighter of  claim 1 , wherein the platform has a larger cross-sectional area than the guide, and at least a portion of the platform is disposed over a top side of the base. 
     
     
         10 . The lighter of  claim 1 , wherein the second opening extends through the platform and the guide. 
     
     
         11 . The lighter of  claim 1 , wherein the base is cuboid shaped. 
     
     
         12 . The lighter of  claim 11 , wherein the platform has a same cross-sectional shape as the base. 
     
     
         13 . The lighter of  claim 12 , wherein, from a top plan view, the platform has a smaller area than the base. 
     
     
         14 . The lighter of  claim 1 , further including:
 a fuel level window;   a lock; and   a flame adjustment dial.   
     
     
         15 . The lighter of  claim 14 , wherein the fuel level window, the lock, and the flame adjustment dial are on a same side of the base. 
     
     
         16 . A lighter comprising:
 a base having a first side and a second side opposite the first side, the base having a longitudinal axis extending from the first side and to the second side;   a flame ignition assembly at least partially housed in the base, the flame ignition assembly including a nozzle; and   a button moveably coupled to the base, the button moveable toward the first side of the base when the button is depressed, the button having an opening extending through a center of the button, the nozzle disposed in the opening of the button, the button having a central axis that is coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the base.   
     
     
         17 . The lighter of  claim 16 , wherein the button includes a guide extending into a second opening formed in the first side of the base. 
     
     
         18 . The lighter of  claim 16 , further including a nozzle guide extending from the first side of the base, the nozzle guide disposed in the opening in the button. 
     
     
         19 . The lighter of  claim 18 , wherein the button moveable between an extended position in which an edge of the nozzle guide is disposed in the opening and surrounded by the button and a depressed position in which the edge of the nozzle guide is outside of the opening. 
     
     
         20 . The lighter of  claim 16 , wherein a top side of the button is ribbed.
