Abstract
A weightlifting machine that includes a pulley system and a cable system that attaches to a weight rack frame to allow a user to perform a weightlifting exercise. The pulley system may include a first pulley and a second pulley where the cable system engages each pulley. The cable system may have a first end connected to a grip attachment and a second end attached to a resistance element. The resistance element may include a resistance band, a weight support that holds a weight plate, a set of weight plates, or other type of resistance element. The cable system may extend from the pulley through an opening located one of the frame members that form the frame.

2 . A weight rack system, comprising:
a frame comprising:
a plurality of vertical frame members that are connected together with a plurality of lateral frame members extending between the plurality of vertical frame members, wherein each lateral frame member of the plurality of lateral frame members comprises a rectangular metal tube having four side surfaces defining a hollow interior and each vertical frame member of the plurality of vertical frame members comprises a rectangular metal tube having four side surfaces defining a hollow interior;
a first pulley assembly connected to a first lateral frame member of the plurality of lateral frame members, wherein the first pulley assembly comprises a pulley mount connected to the frame and a first pulley rotatably mounted on the pulley mount; a carriage movably connected to a first vertical frame member of the plurality of vertical frame members, wherein the carriage comprises:
a first side plate on a first side of the carriage;
a second side plate on a second side of the carriage opposite the first side, wherein the second side plate is spaced apart from the first side plate, and wherein the first vertical frame member is received between the first side plate and the second side plate;
a plurality of rollers located between the first side plate and the second side plate, wherein the plurality of rollers engage the first vertical frame member, and
a weight holder configured to hold a weight that comprises a post connected to the first side plate and extending outward from the first side of the carriage; and
a cable system having a connector configured to be connected to a grip attachment for engagement by a user, the cable system extending from the connector to the first pulley and engaging the first pulley to redirect the cable system, wherein the cable system is further connected to the carriage, and the cable system is configured such that a pulling force exerted on the connector causes the carriage to move upward along the first vertical frame member.
3 . The weight rack system of claim 2 , a second pulley connected to the pulley mount, wherein the cable system comprises a first ascending portion extending from the grip attachment to the first pulley, a second lateral portion extending from the first pulley to the second pulley, and a third descending portion extending from the second pulley to the carriage.
4 . The weight rack system of claim 2 , wherein the first lateral frame member includes a plurality of holes that extend through an upper surface and a lower surface thereof; and
wherein the cable system extends through a first hole of the plurality of holes and through a second hole of the plurality of holes, wherein the first hole is on the upper surface and the second hole is on the lower surface.
5 . The weight rack system of claim 2 , wherein the pulley mount includes a mounting structure comprising a pair of mounting plates, wherein the pair of mounting plates extend onto opposite sides of the first lateral frame member to receive the first lateral frame member between the pair of mounting plates.
6 . The weight rack system of claim 2 , wherein the cable system is routed through the first lateral frame member.
7 . The weight rack system of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of rollers comprises two rollers engaging an outer surface of the first vertical frame member.
8 . The weight rack system of claim 2 , wherein the weight holder further comprise a second post connected to the second side plate and extending outward from the second side of the carriage.
9 . The weight rack system of claim 8 , wherein the cable system connects to the carriage between the first side plate and the second side plate.
10 . The weight rack system of claim 2 , wherein the weight holder of the carriage is positioned behind the first vertical frame member and the connector of the cable system is positioned in front of the first vertical frame member, and the cable system is connected to the carriage behind the first vertical frame member.
11 . The weight rack system of claim 2 , wherein the cable system connects to the carriage outside of a perimeter of the first vertical frame member.
12 . The weight rack system of claim 2 , wherein the carriage includes a beam that is received in a vertical channel that extends through the first vertical frame member, wherein the beam slides within the vertical channel as the carriage moves along the first vertical frame member.
13 . A weight rack system, comprising:
a frame comprising:
a vertical frame member, wherein the vertical frame member comprises a rectangular metal tube having four side surfaces defining a hollow interior with a plurality of holes on at least one of the side surfaces of the vertical frame member;
a first pulley assembly connected to the frame, wherein the first pulley assembly comprises a first pulley connected to a pulley mount that is connected to the frame; a carriage movably connected to the vertical frame member, wherein the carriage comprises:
a first side plate on a first side of the carriage;
a second side plate on a second side of the carriage opposite the first side, wherein the first side plate and the second side plate defines a passage that receives the vertical frame member;
a roller located between the first side plate and the second side plate, and wherein the roller engages the vertical frame member; and
a weight holder configured to hold a weight; and
a cable system connected to a grip attachment configured to be engaged by a user and engaging the first pulley to redirect the cable system, wherein the cable system is further connected to the carriage; and wherein the cable system connects to the carriage outside of a perimeter of the vertical frame member.
14 . The weight rack system of claim 13 , further comprising:
a second pulley connected to the frame, wherein the cable system comprises a first ascending portion extending from the grip attachment to the first pulley, a second cable section extending from the first pulley to the second pulley, and a third cable section extending from the second pulley to the carriage.
15 . The weight rack system of claim 13 , wherein the frame further comprises a lateral frame member connected to the vertical frame member, wherein the lateral frame member comprises a rectangular metal tube having four side surfaces defining a hollow interior with a plurality of holes on at least one of the side surfaces of the lateral frame member; and
wherein the pulley mount includes a mounting structure comprising a pair of mounting plates, and wherein the pair of mounting plates extend onto opposite sides of the lateral frame member to receive the lateral frame member between the pair of mounting plates.
16 . The weight rack system of claim 13 , wherein the weight holder of the carriage is positioned behind the vertical frame member and the grip attachment of the cable system is positioned in front of the vertical frame member, and the cable system is connected to the carriage behind the vertical frame member.
17 . The weight rack system of claim 16 , wherein the weight holder comprises a post extends outward from the first side plate of the carriage.
18 . A weight rack system, comprising:
a frame comprising:
a first vertical frame member, wherein the first vertical frame member comprises a rectangular metal tube having four side surfaces defining a hollow interior with a first plurality of holes on at least one of the side surfaces of the first vertical frame member;
a second vertical frame member, wherein the first vertical frame member comprises a rectangular metal tube having four side surfaces defining a hollow interior with a second plurality of holes on at least one of the side surfaces of the second vertical frame member; and
a lateral frame member connected to and located between the first vertical frame member and the second vertical frame member;
a first pulley reconnected to the frame; a second pulley connected to the frame; a carriage movably connected to the frame, wherein the carriage comprises:
a first side plate on a first side of the carriage;
a second side plate on a second side of the carriage opposite the first side, wherein the first side plate and the second side plate define a passage that receives the first vertical frame member;
a plurality of rollers located between the first side plate and the second side plate, and wherein the plurality of rollers engage the first vertical frame member within the passage, and
a weight holder configured to hold a weight; and
a cable system connected to a grip attachment configured to be engaged by a user and engaging the first pulley and the second pulley to redirect the cable system, wherein the cable system is further connected to the carriage; and wherein the cable system connects to the carriage outside of a perimeter of the first vertical frame member; and wherein the cable system comprises a first ascending portion extending from the grip attachment to the first pulley, a second lateral portion extending from the first pulley to the second pulley, and a third descending portion extending from the second pulley to the carriage.
19 . The weight rack system of claim 18 , wherein the weight holder extends outward from the first side plate of the carriage.
20 . The weight rack system of claim 18 , wherein the weight holder of the carriage is positioned behind the first vertical frame member and the grip attachment of the cable system is positioned in front of the first vertical frame member, and the cable system is connected to the carriage behind the first vertical frame member.
