Joist pocket assembly for a refrigerated facility
Abstract
A joist pocket assembly and a method for manufacturing a joist pocket assembly is described herein. In some embodiments, the joist pocket assembly can include a frame configured to be mounted within a cut-out in a wall. In some embodiments, the joist pocket assembly can include a base of the frame, where the base can be configured to receive a structural member of a joist. In some embodiments, the joist pocket assembly can include a flange extending from a perimeter of the frame, where the flange can cover a gap between the frame and the wall. In some embodiments, the joist pocket assembly can include a first stud coupled to the base of the frame, where the first stud can secure the frame to the wall. In some embodiments, the joist pocket assembly can be placed in a concrete tilt wall or concrete precast wall.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A joist pocket assembly, comprising:
a base of a cut-out in the wall, wherein the base is configured to receive a structural member of a joist; a joist bearing plate extending from a perimeter of the cut-out in the wall; and an insulated metal panel coupled to the joist pocket assembly, wherein a vapor barrier is disposed between the cut-out in the wall, the insulated metal panel, and the wall.
2 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the wall is part of a refrigerated facility.
3 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier is configured to prevent the transfer of water vapor across external surfaces of the wall.
4 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier comprises a roofing membrane material.
5 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier comprises a bonding material.
6 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier comprises a tape.
7 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier comprises a sealant.
8 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 7 , wherein the sealant comprises at least one of a butyl sealant.
9 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 7 , wherein the sealant comprises a butyl tape.
10 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier comprises an adhesive.
11 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier is applied onto an inside portion of the cut-out in the wall.
12 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier is applied onto an outside portion of the cut-out in the wall.
13 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier is painted onto the cut-out in the wall.
14 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the joist bearing plate is built into the wall.
15 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the joist bearing plate is configured to provide structural support between an overlying joist and an underlying portion of the wall.
16 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier is applied over the joist bearing plate.
17 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 1 , wherein the vapor barrier completely covers the joist bearing plate.
18 . A method of installing a joist pocket assembly, the method comprising:
providing a cut-out in a wall, wherein a base of the cut-out in the wall is configured to receive a structural member of a joist; installing a joist bearing plate into the cut-out in the wall, wherein the joist bearing plate extends from a perimeter of the cut-out in the wall; applying a vapor barrier to the cut-out in a wall; and providing an insulated metal panel configured to be placed adjacent to the wall coupled to the joist pocket assembly, the insulated metal panel configured to be coupled to the joist pocket assembly, wherein the vapor barrier is disposed between the cut-out in the wall, the insulated metal panel, and the wall.
19 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 18 , wherein applying the vapor barrier to the cut-out in the wall comprises applying a sealant to the cut-out in the wall.
20 . The joist pocket assembly of claim 18 , wherein applying the vapor barrier to the cut-out in the wall comprises painting the vapor barrier to the cut-out in the wall.Cited by (0)
