Abstract

A diffuser assembly for a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a blade assembly configured to couple to a frame of the diffuser assembly, a support rail of the blade assembly, and a plurality of blades of the blade assembly. The support rail includes a plurality of slots formed therein, and each slot of the plurality of slots comprises a respective first geometry. Each blade of the plurality of blades includes a retention portion configured to extend within a corresponding slot of the plurality of slots, and the retention portion includes a respective second geometry corresponding to the respective first geometry of the corresponding slot of the plurality of slots.

1 . A diffuser assembly for a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, comprising:
 a frame comprising an inlet configured to receive an air flow;   a blade assembly configured to couple to the frame, wherein the blade assembly comprises:
 a support rail comprising a plurality of slots formed therein; and 
 a plurality of blades configured to couple to the support rail, wherein each blade of the plurality of blades is configured to extend within a respective slot of the plurality of slots. 
   
     
     
         2 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 1 , wherein each blade of the plurality of blades is configured to engage with the support rail via the respective slot of the plurality of slots, and the support rail is configured to retain each blade of the plurality of blades in a respective angular orientation relative to a direction of the air flow through the diffuser assembly. 
     
     
         3 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the respective angular orientation of each blade of the plurality of blades is the same. 
     
     
         4 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the plurality of blades comprises a first subset of blades and a second subset of blades, the support rail is configured to retain each blade of the first subset of blades in a first angular orientation relative to the direction of the air flow through the diffuser assembly, the support rail is configured to retain each blade of the second subset of blades in a second angular orientation relative to the direction of the air flow through the diffuser assembly, and the first angular orientation and the second angular orientation are different from one another. 
     
     
         5 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 4 , wherein the first angular orientation and the second angular orientation extend in at least partially opposite directions.

The diffuser assembly of  claim 1 , wherein each blade of the plurality of blades comprises a retention portion configured to extend within the respective slot of the plurality of slots, the retention portion comprises a first geometry, and the respective slot of the plurality of slots comprises a second geometry corresponding to the first geometry. 
     
     
         7 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 6 , wherein the first geometry and the second geometry each comprise an L-shaped geometry. 
     
     
         8 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the support rail is configured to engage with the frame to couple the blade assembly to the frame. 
     
     
         9 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 8 , wherein the support rail is a first support rail, the plurality of slots is a first plurality of slots, the blade assembly comprises a second support rail, the second support rail comprises a second plurality of slots, and each blade of the plurality of blades is configured to extend within a respective slot of the second plurality of slots. 
     
     
         10 . A diffuser assembly for a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, comprising:
 a blade assembly configured to couple to a frame of the diffuser assembly;   a support rail of the blade assembly, wherein the support rail comprises a plurality of slots formed therein, and each slot of the plurality of slots comprises a respective first geometry; and   a plurality of blades of the blade assembly, wherein each blade of the plurality of blades comprises a retention portion configured to extend within a corresponding slot of the plurality of slots, and the retention portion comprises a respective second geometry corresponding to the respective first geometry of the corresponding slot of the plurality of slots.   
     
     
         11 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 10 , wherein the respective first geometry of each slot of the plurality to slots is the same, and the respective second geometry of the retention portion of each blade of the plurality of blades is the same. 
     
     
         12 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 11 , wherein the respective first geometry and the respective second geometry each comprise an L-shaped geometry. 
     
     
         13 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 10 , wherein the support rail comprises:
 a main body comprising a first end and a second end, opposite the first end, wherein the plurality of slots is formed in the main body;   a first extension extending from the first end; and   a second extension extending from the second end,   wherein the support rail is configured to engage with the frame to couple the blade assembly to the frame.   
     
     
         14 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 13 , comprising the frame, wherein the frame defines an air flow path extending through the diffuser assembly, the frame comprises a first aperture formed therein and a second aperture, opposite the first aperture relative to the air flow path, formed therein, the first extension is configured to extend within the first aperture in an assembled configuration of the diffuser assembly, and the second extension is configured to extend within the second aperture in the assembled configuration of the diffuser assembly. 
     
     
         15 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 10 , wherein the support rail is configured to retain each blade of the plurality of blades in a respective angular orientation relative to a direction of air flow through the diffuser assembly, and the respective angular orientation of each blade of the plurality of blades is the same. 
     
     
         16 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 10 , wherein the blade assembly is a first blade assembly, the support rail is a first support rail, the plurality of slots is a first plurality of slots, the plurality of blades is a first plurality of blades, and the diffuser assembly comprises:
 a second blade assembly configured to couple to the frame of the diffuser assembly;   a second support rail of the second blade assembly, wherein the second support rail comprises a second plurality of slots formed therein; and   a second plurality of blades of the second blade assembly, wherein each blade of the second plurality of blades is configured to extend within a corresponding slot of the second plurality of slots.   
     
     
         17 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 16 , wherein the first plurality of blades is configured to discharge air from the diffuser assembly at least partially in a first direction, and the second plurality of blades is configured to discharge air from the diffuser assembly at least partially in a second direction, cross-wise to the first direction. 
     
     
         18 . A diffuser assembly, comprising:
 a frame defining an air flow path configured to direct an air flow through the diffuser assembly;   a support rail disposed within the air flow path, wherein the support rail comprises a plurality of slots formed therein, and each slot of the plurality of slots comprises a first geometry; and   a plurality of blades disposed within the air flow path, wherein the plurality of blades is coupled to the support rail, each blade of the plurality of blades comprises a retention portion extending within a respective slot of the plurality of slots, the retention portion comprises a second geometry corresponding to the first geometry, and the support rail is configured to retain each blade of the plurality of blades in a respective angular orientation relative to a direction of the air flow through the diffuser assembly.   
     
     
         19 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 18 , wherein each blade of the plurality of blades is spot-welded to the support rail. 
     
     
         20 . The diffuser assembly of  claim 18 , comprising a blade assembly, wherein the blade assembly comprises the support rail and the plurality of blades, and the blade assembly is coupled to the frame via a spring-loaded engagement.
