Bench system and method
Abstract
A bench system is provided. The bench can include a seat with an opening, a plurality of rear legs and a console door. The plurality of rear legs can include a first leg, a second leg, and a third leg. The third leg can be disposed between the first leg and the second leg and have a hollow interior. The console door can be disposed adjacent to the hollow interior of the third leg and the opening of the seat. The console door can also be movable between an open position and a closed position. The bench system can include a first bench and second bench in a stacked arrangement. A method for stacking benches is also provided.

. The bench of claim 1 , wherein the opening has a first width, the third leg has a second width, the first width and the second width being substantially the same.
. The bench of claim 1 , wherein the opening is substantially rectangular.
. The bench of claim 1 , wherein the third leg has a first depth and a second depth, the first depth being greater than the second depth.
. The bench of claim 1 , wherein a width and a depth of the third leg decease from a first end to a second end.
. The bench of claim 1 , further including a backrest, a plurality of front legs disposed adjacent to the seat, and a pair of armrests including a first armrest and a second armrest coupled to the plurality of front legs and the backrest.
. The bench of claim 6 , wherein the first armrest and the second armrest include a first recess, a second recess, a first aperture, and a second aperture, the first recess and the second recess configured to hold a beverage container, the first aperture and the second aperture configured to hold a mobile device.
. The bench of claim 7 , wherein the first recess, the second recess, the first aperture, and the second aperture each have a drainage hole.
. The bench of claim 6 , wherein the backrest includes a first support and a second support, each of the first support and the second support being arched.
. The bench of claim 9 , wherein the backrest includes a central support, with the first and second supports disposed on opposite sides of the central support.
. The bench of claim 10 , wherein a support ridge is disposed horizontally on a rear side of the first and second supports, curved to match a curvature of a top portion of the backrest.
. The bench of claim 11 , wherein the central support includes a plurality of support beams disposed in a grid pattern with multiple intersecting lines.
. The bench of claim 1 , wherein seat includes a plurality of horizontal slats with braces disposed between adjacent slats.
. The bench of claim 13 , wherein the plurality of braces can be distributed across a width of the seat and be configured to substantially align with ischial tuberosities of a pelvis of an average sized user.
. The bench of claim 1 , wherein the hollow interior of the third leg has a substantially rectangular cuboid shape that tapers from a first end to a second end with both depth and width decreasing.
. A bench for the outdoors, comprising:
a seat including an opening, wherein the seat includes a plurality of horizontal slats with braces disposed between adjacent slats, and wherein the plurality of braces are distributed across a width of the seat and configured to substantially align with ischial tuberosities of a pelvis of an average sized user; a plurality of rear legs including a first leg, a second leg, and a third leg, the third leg disposed between the first leg and the second leg, the third leg defining a hollow interior in communication with the opening, wherein the third leg has a first depth and a second depth, the first depth being greater than the second depth, and wherein a width and a depth of the third leg decrease from a first end to a second end, the opening being substantially rectangular and has a first width, the third leg has a second width, the first width and the second width being substantially the same, and the opening is configured to receive a third leg of another bench for the outdoors therethrough when the another bench is stacked on the bench, the third leg of the another bench passing through the opening of the bench and into the hollow interior of the third leg of the bench, the third leg of the another bench configured to abut the hollow interior of the third leg of the bench; a backrest including a first support, a second support, and a central support, with the first and second supports disposed on opposite sides of the central support, wherein each of the first support and the second support is arched, and wherein a support ridge is disposed horizontally on the rear side of the first and second supports, curved to match a curvature of a top portion of the backrest, and wherein the central support includes a plurality of support beams disposed in a grid pattern with multiple intersecting lines; a plurality of front legs disposed adjacent to the seat; and a pair of armrests including a first armrest and a second armrest coupled to the plurality of front legs and the backrest, wherein the first armrest and the second armrest each include a first recess, a second recess, a first aperture, and a second aperture, the first recess and the second recess configured to hold a beverage container, the first aperture and the second aperture configured to hold a mobile device, and wherein the first recess, the second recess, the first aperture, and the second aperture each have a drainage hole.
. A bench system, comprising:
