Abstract

A removable housing component for attachment to an aerosol generation device housing is provided. The component includes first and second ends, the component extending between the first and second ends to define a component axis, a concave inner surface, the surface having a concave profile in a direction along the component axis, and a first plurality of elongate protrusions extending from the concave inner surface and spaced apart from each other in the direction along the component axis. An aerosol generation device including a housing is also provided.

1 . A removable housing component for attachment to an aerosol generation device housing, the component comprising:
 first and second ends, the component extending between the first and second ends to define a component axis;   a concave inner surface, the surface having a concave profile in a direction along the component axis; and   a first plurality of elongate protrusions extending from the concave inner surface and spaced apart from each other in the direction along the component axis.   
     
     
         2 . The removable housing component of  claim 1 , further comprising a second plurality of elongate protrusions extending from the concave inner surface and spaced apart from each other in the direction along the component axis, the second plurality of protrusions spaced apart from the first plurality of protrusions in a direction perpendicular to the axis. 
     
     
         3 . The removable housing component of  claim 2 , wherein each of the first plurality of protrusions comprises a planar bearing surface facing a first direction, and each of the second plurality of protrusions comprises a planar bearing surface facing in a second, opposed direction towards the first plurality of protrusions. 
     
     
         4 . The removable housing component of  claim 3 , wherein each of the first plurality of protrusions comprises a planar bearing surface facing a common direction, and each of the second plurality of protrusions comprises a planar bearing surface facing in the same direction. 
     
     
         5 . The removable housing component of  claim 4 , wherein each protrusion comprises a first portion extending from the concave surface, and a second portion extending from the first portion at an angle to the first portion. 
     
     
         6 . The removable housing component of  claim 5 , further comprising a convex outer surface opposed to the concave inner surface. 
     
     
         7 . The removable housing component of  claim 6 , wherein the convex outer surface comprises a texture which is different to the texture of the concave inner surface. 
     
     
         8 . An aerosol generation device comprising a housing, the housing comprising: first and second ends, the housing extending between the first and second ends to define a device axis;
 a convex outer surface, the surface having a convex profile in a direction along the device axis; and   a first plurality of channels extending into the housing through the convex surface, and spaced apart from each other in the direction along the device axis.   
     
     
         9 . The aerosol generation device of  claim 8 , further comprising a second plurality of channels extending into the convex outer surface and spaced apart from each other in the direction along the device axis, the second plurality of channels spaced apart from the first plurality of channels in a direction perpendicular to the axis. 
     
     
         10 . The aerosol generation device of  claim 9 , wherein each of the first plurality of channels comprises a planar bearing surface facing a first direction, and each of the second plurality of channels comprises a planar bearing surface facing in a second, opposed direction away from the first plurality of channels. 
     
     
         11 . The aerosol generation device of  claim 10 , wherein each channel of the first and second pluralities of channels comprises a lip at one side of the channel, the lip extending from the planar bearing surfaces facing the first and second directions. 
     
     
         12 . The aerosol generation device of  claim 11 , wherein each of the first plurality of channels comprises a planar bearing surface facing a common direction, and each of the second plurality of channels comprises a planar bearing surface facing in the same direction. 
     
     
         13 . The aerosol generation device of  claim 9 , wherein each channel of the first and second pluralities of channels comprises first and second planar bearing surfaces at an angle to one another and meeting at an edge within the channel. 
     
     
         14 . The aerosol generation device of  claim 8 , further comprising a removable housing component, the component comprising:
 first and second ends, the component extending between the first and second ends to define a component axis;   a concave inner surface, the surface having a concave profile in a direction along the component axis; and   a first plurality of elongate protrusions extending from the concave inner surface and spaced apart from each other in the direction along the component axis,   wherein the first plurality of protrusions is received within the first plurality of channels so as to removably attach the housing component to the housing.   
     
     
         15 . A method of manufacturing an aerosol generation device, the method comprising:
 forming a housing comprising first and second ends, the housing extending between the first and second ends to define a device axis;   forming a housing sidewall comprising a convex outer surface of the housing, the surface having a convex profile in a direction along the device axis; and   machining channels which extend partially into the sidewall through the convex outer surface, the channels spaced apart from each other in the direction along the device axis.   
     
     
         16 . The removable housing component of  claim 1 , further comprising a convex outer surface opposed to the convex inner surface, wherein the convex outer surface comprises a texture which is different to a texture of the concave inner surface. 
     
     
         17 . The aerosol generation device of  claim 14 , wherein the component further comprises a second plurality of elongate protrusions extending from the concave inner surface and spaced apart from each other in the direction along the component axis, the second plurality of protrusions spaced apart from the first plurality of protrusions in a direction perpendicular to the axis. 
     
     
         18 . The aerosol generation device of  claim 17 , wherein each of the first plurality of protrusions comprises a planar bearing surface facing a first direction, and each of the second plurality of protrusions comprises a planar bearing surface facing in a second, opposed direction towards the first plurality of protrusions. 
     
     
         19 . The method of manufacturing of  claim 15 , further comprising:
 forming a removable housing component comprising:
 first and second ends, the component extending between the first and second ends to define a component axis; 
 a concave inner surface, the surface having a concave profile in a direction along the component axis; and 
 a first plurality of elongate protrusions extending from the concave inner surface and spaced apart from each other in the direction along the component axis; and 
   receiving the first plurality of protrusions within the first plurality of channels so as to removably attach the housing component to the housing.   
     
     
         20 . The method of manufacturing of  claim 19 , further comprising:
 forming each of the first plurality of protrusions to comprise a planar bearing surface facing a first direction; and   forming each of the second plurality of protrusions to comprise a planar bearing surface facing in a second, opposed direction towards the first plurality of protrusions.
