Abstract
The present invention relates to a portable blower including: a body including a body housing and formed with a gripping portion; an airflow generating device, wherein the airflow generating device is connected with the body housing and comprises a motor and a fan driven by the motor to rotate so as to generate airflow; and a volute accommodating the fan therein, the volute including an air intake portion and an air outlet in fluid communication with each other; wherein the volute is rotatable, preferably up to 180 degrees, relative to the body so as to adjust the angle of the air outlet.

a body including a body housing and formed with a gripping portion; an airflow generating device, wherein the airflow generating device is connected with the body housing and includes a motor and a fan driven by the motor to rotate so as to generate airflow; and a volute accommodating the fan, the volute including an air intake portion and an air outlet in fluid communication with each other; wherein the volute is rotatable relative to the body up to approximately 180 degrees so as to adjust an angle of the air outlet relative to the body housing.
2 . The portable blower of claim 1 , further comprising a seal disposed between the volute and the body housing, and wherein the seal is configured to damp rotation of the volute relative to the body housing.
3 . The portable blower of claim 2 , wherein the seal is an O-ring seal disposed between the volute and the body housing.
4 . The portable blower of claim 1 , wherein the air outlet extends tangentially outwardly relative to the volute, wherein the fan is a centrifugal fan, and wherein air is configured to enter the volute axially via the air intake portion.
5 . The portable blower of claim 1 , wherein the volute includes a left volute disposed on a left side of the body and a right volute disposed on a right side of the body, and wherein the portable blower further includes a seal disposed between the left volute and the body housing.
6 . The portable blower of claim 5 , wherein the seal is a first seal and the portable blower further includes a second seal disposed between the right volute and the body housing.
7 . The portable blower of claim 5 , wherein the motor includes a motor shaft and the motor shaft extends through the left volute from the left side, and wherein the fan is fixed to the motor shaft.
8 . The portable blower of claim 5 , wherein the left volute has a groove or a protrusion and the right volute has the other of the groove or the protrusion disposed on respective interfaces of the left volute and the right volute, wherein the groove and the protrusion are engageable with each other to prevent airflow from leaking from the respective interfaces when the left volute and the right volute are attached to each other.
9 . The portable blower of claim 1 , wherein the volute includes a left volute disposed on a left side of the body and a right volute disposed on a right side of the body, and wherein the portable blower further includes a seal disposed between the right volute and the body housing.
10 . The portable blower of claim 1 , further comprising an air intake cover attached to the volute from a side opposite the motor, and wherein the air intake cover corresponds to the air intake portion to facilitate entry of air into the volute via the air intake cover.
11 . The portable blower of claim 10 , wherein the air intake cover is engaged with the volute via an engagement mechanism, and wherein the air intake cover rotates with the volute during rotation of the volute.
12 . The portable blower of claim 1 , further comprising a rechargeable battery disposed in the body housing, wherein the body housing includes a gripping portion which accommodates the rechargeable battery.
13 . The portable blower of claim 1 , further comprising a blowpipe connected to the air outlet of the volute to facilitate directing the airflow beyond the air outlet.
14 . The portable blower of claim 1 , wherein the volute has a plurality of recesses that are spaced in a circumferential direction, and wherein the blower housing has a biasing mechanism to fix the volute at a selected angle of a plurality of different angles relative to the blower housing.
15 . The portable blower of claim 14 , wherein the biasing mechanism includes a spring-biased pin, and wherein each of the plurality of recesses is rounded such that the spring-biased pin is disengageable from a selected recess of the plurality of recesses on application of a force sufficient to overcome a spring-biasing force of the biasing mechanism.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
