Abstract
A fiber module is disclosed with an improved design that creates at least two work areas for managing fiber within the module body by including a work area floor that partitions the interior of the module to define at least two work areas. Each of the work areas includes their own fiber management equipment, as well as fiber routing elements for managing a length of slack fiber within each of the work areas. By segmenting the interior of the module into the multiple work spaces, the module described herein is more efficient when managing larger numbers of fibers.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A fiber module comprising:
a module body comprising:
a first side wall;
a second side wall;
a rear wall including an upper route opening and a lower route opening;
a top cover;
a bottom cover; and
a front face plate comprising a plurality of adapter openings, the plurality of adapter openings being arranged in at least a first row and a second row; and
a work floor extending between the first side wall to the second side wall, the work floor defining, at least in part, bounds of a first work area and a second work area within an interior of the module body.
2 . The fiber module of claim 1 , wherein the upper route opening and the lower route opening are combined as part of a rear opening in the rear wall.
3 . The fiber module of claim 1 , wherein the upper route opening is separate from the lower route opening in the rear wall.
4 . The fiber module of claim 1 , further comprising:
a first splice holder positioned on a first side of the work floor to be included in the first work area; and a second splice holder positioned on a second side of the work floor to be included in the second work area.
5 . The fiber module of claim 4 , wherein at least one of the first splice holder or the second splice holder is detachably installed onto the work floor.
6 . The fiber module of claim 1 , wherein the upper route opening leads into the first work area and the lower route opening leads into the second work area.
7 . The fiber module of claim 1 , wherein the work floor includes a floor opening configured to provide access between the first work area and the second work area.
8 . The fiber module of claim 7 , wherein the upper route opening is configured to receive a first cable into the first work area, wherein at least one fiber included in the first cable is routed through the floor opening to reach into the second work area.
9 . The fiber module of claim 7 , wherein the lower route opening is configured to receive a second cable into the second work area, wherein at least one fiber included in the second cable is routed through the floor opening to reach into the first work area.
10 . The fiber module of claim 7 , wherein the upper route opening is configured to receive a first cable into the first work area, wherein at least one fiber included in the first cable is routed through the floor opening to reach into the second work area to be spliced within a splice holder positioned in the second work area.
11 . The fiber module of claim 7 , wherein the lower route opening is configured to receive a second cable into the second work area, wherein at least one fiber included in the second cable is routed through the floor opening to reach into the first work area to be spliced within a splice holder positioned in the first work area.
12 . The fiber module of claim 7 , wherein the upper route opening is configured to receive a first cable into the first work area, wherein at least one fiber included in the first cable is configured to be spliced within a splice holder positioned in the first work area.
13 . The fiber module of claim 7 , wherein the lower route opening is configured to receive a second cable into the second work area, wherein at least one fiber included in the second cable is configured to be spliced within a splice holder positioned in the second work area.
14 . The fiber module of claim 1 , wherein the work floor includes a first floor opening configured to provide access between the first work area and the second work area, and the work floor includes a second floor opening configured to provide access between the first work area and the second work area.
15 . The fiber module of claim 14 , wherein the upper route opening is configured to receive a first cable into the first work area, wherein a first fiber included in the first cable is routed through the first floor opening to reach into the second work area, and a second fiber included in the first cable is routed through the second floor opening to reach into the second work area.
16 . The fiber module of claim 14 , wherein the lower route opening is configured to receive a second cable into the second work area, wherein a first fiber included in the second cable is routed through the first floor opening to reach into the first work area, and a second fiber included in the second cable is routed through the second floor opening to reach into the first work area.
17 . The fiber module of claim 14 , wherein the upper route opening is configured to receive a first cable into the first work area, wherein a first fiber included in the first cable is routed through the first floor opening to reach into the second work area to be spliced within a splice holder positioned in the second work area, and a second fiber included in the first cable is routed through the second floor opening to reach into the second work area to be spliced within the splice holder positioned in the second work area.
18 . The fiber module of claim 14 , wherein the lower route opening is configured to receive a second cable into the second work area, wherein a first fiber included in the second cable is routed through the first floor opening to reach into the first work area to be spliced within a splice holder positioned in the first work area, and a second fiber included in the second cable is routed through the second floor opening to reach into the first work area to be spliced within the splice holder positioned in the first work area.
19 . The fiber module of claim 14 , wherein the upper route opening is configured to receive a first cable into the first work area, wherein a first fiber included in the first cable is configured to be spliced within a first splice holder positioned in the first work area, and a second fiber included in the first cable is configured to be routed through one of the first floor opening or the second floor opening to reach into the second work area to be spliced within a second splice holder positioned in the second work area.
20 . The fiber module of claim 14 , wherein the lower route opening is configured to receive a second cable into the second work area, wherein a first fiber included in the second cable is configured to be routed through one of the first floor opening or the second floor opening to reach into the first work area to be spliced within a first splice holder positioned in the first work area, and a second fiber included in the second cable is configured to be spliced within a second splice holder positioned in the second work area.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
