Abstract
Systems and methods may use a math programming model for designing an edge cloud network. The edge cloud network design may depend on various factors, including the number of edge cloud nodes, edge cloud node location, or traffic coverage, among other things.
Claims

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein subsequent to the providing of the instructions to update the edge cloud network design the edge cloud network design includes an identification of a first location of the first edge cloud node and a second location of the second edge cloud node.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein subsequent to the providing of the instructions to update the edge cloud network design the edge cloud network design includes an identification of an assignment of a base station to the first edge cloud node.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing an indication of a location of a subset of a plurality of intermediate offices to use for edge cloud nodes based on the update of the edge cloud network design.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the edge cloud network design is based on a use of a programming model.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing an indication of a minimum number of edge cloud nodes based on the update of the edge cloud network design.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing an indication of an assignment of each of a plurality of terminal nodes to edge cloud nodes based on the update of the edge cloud network design.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
providing instructions to update a location of a subset of a plurality of intermediate offices to use for edge cloud nodes based on the update of the edge cloud network design.
9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the second information further comprises routes and latencies between the first edge cloud node and the plurality of candidate edge cloud nodes.
10 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the latency requirements comprise a minimum latency between a plurality of intermediate offices and a user equipment.
11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the second information further comprises a processing capacity of devices located at an intermediate office that implement a second service.
12 . A method comprising:
obtaining, by a processing system including a processor, first information about a telecommunications network, the first information comprising a traffic coverage for an edge cloud network design that includes a first edge cloud node and a plurality of candidate edge cloud nodes, wherein the traffic coverage is based on a traffic forecast, and wherein the first information is based on historical data and types of traffic including audio, video, voice, global positioning system data, and mobile phone data; obtaining, by the processing system, second information, the second information comprising latency requirements, reliability requirements, and an identification of a minimum capacity of a server, a node, or a device implementing a service; based on the first information and the second information, assigning, by the processing system, a candidate edge cloud node of the plurality of candidate edge cloud nodes to be a second edge cloud node of the telecommunications network; and providing, by the processing system, instructions to update the edge cloud network design to indicate the second edge cloud node.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein subsequent to the providing of the instructions to update the edge cloud network design the edge cloud network design includes an identification of a first location of the first edge cloud node and a second location of the second edge cloud node.
14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein subsequent to the providing of the instructions to update the edge cloud network design the edge cloud network design includes an identification of an assignment of a base station to the first edge cloud node.
15 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
providing, by the processing system, an indication of a location of a subset of a plurality of intermediate offices to use for edge cloud nodes based on the update of the edge cloud network design.
