System and method for blister packaging

Abstract

Devices, systems, and methods for blister packaging are disclosed. An assembly utilizing interchangeable inserts allows for a variety of blister packaging to be sealed with corresponding labels that are anchored into proper orientation through the use of locator pins. Blisters are nested into inserts and held in a fixed position while label sheets having holes for receiving locator pins are inserted onto the assembly. Visual indicators on labels identify pull flaps, and tear slits provide evidence of tampering with packaged blisters.

1 . A system for packaging blister labels, wherein the system comprises:
 an insert, configured to receive a blister pack array, said insert having a generally planar body and a plurality of openings within an outermost perimeter of said insert;   a base having a base opening; and   wherein said base is separate from said insert, and is configured to receive said outermost perimeter of said insert at the perimeter of said base opening to secure said insert within said base.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein said plurality of openings of said insert are positioned in an array of columns and rows. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein said base is generally rectangular in shape. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein said base is configured to receive and secure a label sheet proximate to said insert. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 4 , further comprising at least one locator pin at the base, said at least one locator pin configured to secure said label sheet proximate to said insert. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein said plurality of openings are round. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein said plurality of openings are square. 
     
     
         8 . A label sheet for packaging blisters, said label sheet comprising:
 a blister portion comprising:
 a plurality of individual labels, each of said plurality of individual labels comprising a front surface and a back surface, said back surface comprising a central bare portion without adhesive and an adhesive portion; 
   a frame portion separate from and defining a perimeter of said blister portion; and
 a removable back portion. 
   
     
     
         9 . The label sheet of  claim 8 , wherein said back surface of at least one of said plurality of individual labels further comprises a bare corner portion. 
     
     
         10 . The label sheet of  claim 8 , wherein said label sheet further comprises one or more appendix labels. 
     
     
         11 . The label sheet of  claim 8 , wherein at least one of said plurality of individual labels has a visual indicator on said front surface. 
     
     
         12 . The label sheet of  claim 8 , wherein one or more of said plurality of said individual labels further comprise at least one tear propagation slit. 
     
     
         13 . The label sheet of  claim 9 , wherein said at least one of said plurality of individual labels further has a visual indicator on said front surface, and the location of said visual indicator corresponds to said bare corner portion. 
     
     
         14 . The label sheet of  claim 8 , wherein said label sheet is comprised of a paper-foil face layer. 
     
     
         15 . The label sheet of  claim 8 , wherein said central bare portion is circular in shape. 
     
     
         16 . The label sheet of  claim 8 , wherein said central bare portion is square in shape. 
     
     
         17 . A method of packaging blister labels, comprising the steps of:
 providing a base, said base having a base opening defined by a base opening perimeter;   providing a blister pack array, said blister pack array comprised of a plurality of blisters;   providing an insert adapted to receive said blister pack array, said insert having a plurality of openings within an outer perimeter of said insert, wherein each opening is adapted to receive one of said plurality of blisters; and   configuring said base to receive said outer perimeter of said insert at said base opening perimeter to secure said insert within said base.   
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising providing a label sheet. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18 , further comprising providing a pin at said base, said pin configured to secure said label sheet.
