Platform-agnostic universal transaction profiles
Abstract
Methods and systems are presented for providing a framework for facilitating electronic transactions by dynamically managing and sharing user data with multiple online platforms. As a user accesses one or more online platforms, a connect system that is integrated with the online platforms interacts with the user and obtain, from the user, user data that is usable for completing transactions between the user and the online platforms. The user data is stored in a user profile associated with the user and linked to an identifier of the user. When the user subsequently accesses an online platform, the connect system authenticates the user based on an identifier associated with the user, and share at least a portion of the user data stored in the user profile with the online platform to facilitate a transaction between the user and the online platform.

1 . A system, comprising:
a non-transitory memory; and one or more hardware processors coupled with the non-transitory memory and configured to read instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform operations comprising:
in response to receiving, from a first merchant server associated with a first merchant, an indication that a first purchase transaction is being conducted between a user and a first merchant via a first merchant website displayed on a device, prompting, via a user interface on the device, the user for a user identifier;
determining, based on the user identifier, whether a user profile corresponding to the user exists in a profile database;
in response to determining that the user profile corresponding to the user does not exist in the profile database, obtaining data used for the first purchase transaction; and
generating the user profile for the user based on the data, wherein the user profile is usable to pre-populate a set of text input fields in a second merchant website for a second purchase transaction between the user and a second merchant associated with the second merchant website.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
receiving, from a second merchant server associated with the second merchant, a second indication that the second purchase transaction is being conducted between the user and the second merchant via the second merchant website displayed on the device; and in response to authenticating the user, populating the set of text input fields displayed on the second merchant website using the data associated with the user profile without requiring any input from the user.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the data is inaccessible by the second merchant server.
4 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise:
generating a payment token based on the data; and transmitting the payment token to the device that is usable in the second purchase transaction.
5 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the user profile comprises a device identifier associated with the user, and wherein the operations further comprise:
transmitting a code to the device of the user based on the device identifier; prompting, via a second user interface of the second merchant website, the user to provide an authentication code; and authenticating the user based on matching the authentication code received via the second user interface and the code transmitted to the device.
6 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise:
in response to authenticating the user, transmitting, to the second merchant website, transaction data associated with the user profile.
7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the transaction data represents at least the first purchase transaction between the user and the first merchant.
8 . A method, comprising:
receiving, by a computer system and from a first server associated with a first online platform, an indication that a user is accessing a first online platform associated with a first entity via a device during a first online session; prompting, by the computer system and via a user interface on the device, the user for a user identifier; determining, by the computer system, whether the identifier is associated with any user profile stored in a profile database; in response to determining that the identifier is not associated with any user profile stored in the profile database, obtaining, by the computer system, data used for the first transaction via the user interface; and generating, by the computer system, a user profile for the user based on the data, wherein the user profile is usable to facilitate a second transaction between the user and a second online platform associated with a second entity during a second online session.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
determining that the user has a user account with the first online platform, wherein the data was obtained from a first data storage associated with the first server.
10 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
determining that the user has a user account with a service provider different from the first entity, wherein the data is obtained from a service provider server associated with the service provider.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the user account is linked to a plurality of financial instruments associated with the user, and wherein the method further comprises:
presenting the plurality of financial instruments on the user interface; receiving, from the user and via the user interface, a selection of a particular financial instrument from the plurality of financial instruments; and creating the user profile for the user based on data associated with the particular financial instrument.
12 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
receiving, from a second server associated with the second entity, a second indication that the user is accessing a second online platform associated with the second entity; and in response to authenticating the user, presenting, on a second device associated with the second online platform, at least a portion of the data associated with the user profile without requiring any input from the user.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the payment data is inaccessible by the second server.
14 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
generating a payment token based on the at least the portion of the data; and transmitting the payment token to the second online platform that is usable in the second transaction.
15 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-readable instructions executable to cause a machine to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from a first server associated with a first online platform, an indication that a user is accessing a first online platform associated with a first entity via a device during a first online session; prompting, via a user interface on the device, the user for a user identifier; determining, based on the user identifier, whether the user is associated with a user profile stored in a profile database; in response to determining that the user is not associated with a user profile stored in the profile database, obtaining user data used for the first transaction via the user interface; and generating, by the computer system, the user profile for the user based on the user data, wherein the user profile is usable to facilitate a second transaction between the user and a second online platform associated with a second entity during a second online session subsequent to the first online session.
16 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:
subsequent to the generating the user profile, receiving, from a second server associated with the second entity, a second indication that the user is accessing the second online platform; authenticating the user based on the identifier; and in response to authenticating the user, providing at least a portion of the user data to the second online platform for use in the second transaction between the user and the second online platform.
17 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the user data is inaccessible by the second online platform.
18 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise:
generating a payment token based on the at least the portion of the user data; and transmitting the payment token to the second online platform that is usable in the second purchase transaction.
19 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the user profile comprises a device identifier associated with the user, and wherein the operations further comprise:
transmitting a code to the device of the user based on the device identifier; prompting, via a second user interface of the second merchant website, the user to provide an authentication code; and authenticating the user based on matching the authentication code received via the second user interface and the code transmitted to the device.
20 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise:
