Side-entry running vest

Abstract

A garment includes a front portion, a back portion opposite the front portion, and a pair of side portions extending between the front portion and the back portion. The pair of side portions are adjustable to cinch the garment around a user. The pair of side portions include a first side portion integrally coupled to the front portion and the back portion at a first side of the garment, and a second side portion integrally coupled to one of the front portion and the back portion at a second side of the garment and removably coupled to the other of the front portion and the back portion at the second side of the garment.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A garment comprising:
 a front portion;   a back portion opposite the front portion; and   a pair of side portions extending between the front portion and the back portion, the pair of side portions adjustable to cinch the garment around a user, wherein the pair of side portions include a first side portion integrally coupled to the front portion and the back portion at a first side of the garment, and a second side portion integrally coupled to one of the front portion and the back portion at a second side of the garment and removably coupled to the other of the front portion and the back portion at the second side of the garment.   
     
     
         2 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the front portion and the back portion are fabricated from a stretch material. 
     
     
         3 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the first side portion and the second side portion are fabricated from a stretch material. 
     
     
         4 . The garment of  claim 1 , further comprising one or more fasteners configured to removably couple the second side portion to the other of the front portion and the back portion at the second side of the garment. 
     
     
         5 . The garment of  claim 1 , further comprising one or more cinching mechanisms extending a distance between corresponding side edges of the front portion and the back portion, wherein the one or more cinching mechanisms are configured to selectively adjust a girth of the garment. 
     
     
         6 . The garment of  claim 1 , further comprising one or more pocket panels coupled to one or more of the front portion, the back portion, the first side portion, or the second side portion to form one or more pockets, the one or more pocket panels fabricated from a stretch material. 
     
     
         7 . The garment of  claim 6 , further comprising one or more fasteners configured to selectively open or close an opening to a first pocket of the one or more pockets. 
     
     
         8 . The garment of  claim 6 , further comprising one or more securing mechanisms configured to secure one or more items in a first pocket of the one or more pockets. 
     
     
         9 . The garment of  claim 1 , further comprising a whistle coupled to one or more of the front portion, the back portion, the first side portion, or the second side portion. 
     
     
         10 . A method of making a garment, the method comprising:
 positioning a first portion opposite a second portion; and   extending a pair of side portions between the first portion and the second portion such that the pair of side portions are configured to cinch the garment around a user, wherein the pair of side portions include a first side portion integrally coupled to the front portion and the back portion at a first side of the garment, and a second side portion integrally coupled to one of the front portion and the back portion at a second side of the garment and removably coupled to the other of the front portion and the back portion at the second side of the garment.   
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 10 , further comprising coupling one or more fasteners to one or more of the first portion or the second portion, the one or more fasteners configured to removably couple the second side portion to the other of the front portion and the back portion at the second side of the garment. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 10 , further comprising extending one or more cinching mechanisms a distance between corresponding side edges of the front portion and the back portion, the one or more cinching mechanisms configured to selectively adjust a girth of the garment. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 10 , further comprising coupling one or more pocket panels to one or more of the front portion, the back portion, the first side portion, or the second side portion to form one or more pockets. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 13 , further comprising coupling one or more fasteners proximate to an opening to a first pocket of the one or more pockets such that the one or more fasteners are configured to selectively open or close the opening. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 13 , further comprising coupling one or more securing mechanisms proximate to an opening to a first pocket of the one or more pockets such that the one or more securing mechanisms are configured to secure one or more items in the first pocket. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 10 , further comprising coupling a whistle to one or more of the front portion, the back portion, the first side portion, or the second side portion.
