Modular Golf Club Cover Retainer

Abstract

A golf club cover retainment system for holding golf club covers proximate to a golf bag once the covers are removed from clubs in the golf bag. A clip positioned on a flexible member extending from a reel within a housing engages with a club cover. The housing is connected to the golf bag by a bag connector. A plurality of additional housings may be engaged to form a sequential engagement of multiple housings where each has a flexible member which may be connected to a different golf club cover.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A golf club cover retainment apparatus, comprising:
 a first housing, said first housing having an internal cavity positioned between a first sidewall, a second sidewall and a surrounding sidewall positioned between said first sidewall and said second sidewall;   said first housing having a bag connector for forming an engagement of said first housing to a golf bag;   a reel located within said internal cavity;   an opening in said first housing communicating with said internal cavity;   a flexible member engaged at a first end with said reel, said flexible member extending through said opening to a second end thereof;   a clip in a connection to said second end of said flexible member, said clip for positioning to a removable engagement to a golf club cover;   said reel in a biased engagement urging said reel to wind said flexible member thereon; and   whereby with said first housing in said engagement to said golf bag, a said golf cover in said removable engagement to said clip, is held proximate to said golf bag.   
     
     
         2 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 1  wherein said opening communicates through said surrounding sidewall. 
     
     
         3 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 1  wherein said bag connector comprises:
 a first strap having hook and loop fabric thereon, said first strap engaged at a first end thereof to said first housing; and 
 a second strap having mating hook and loop fabric thereon, said section strap engaged at a second end thereof to said first housing. 
 
     
     
         4 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 2  wherein said bag connector comprises:
 a first strap having hook and loop fabric thereon, said first strap engaged at a first end thereof to said first housing; and 
 a second strap having mating hook and loop fabric thereon, said section strap engaged at a second end thereof to said first housing. 
 
     
     
         5 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 1  additionally comprising:
 a first housing connector positioned upon said first sidewall; 
 said first housing connector being removably engageable with a second housing connector positioned upon a second housing; and 
 said second housing having a second flexible member engaged at a first end thereof with a secondary reel within an internal cavity of said secondary housing, said second flexible member extending through a second opening in said secondary housing to a second clip at a second end thereof. 
 
     
     
         6 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 2  additionally comprising:
 a first housing connector positioned upon said first sidewall; 
 said first housing connector being removably engageable with a second housing connector positioned upon a second housing; and 
 said second housing having a second flexible member engaged at a first end thereof with a secondary reel within an internal cavity of said secondary housing, said second flexible member extending through a second opening in said secondary housing to a second clip at a second end thereof. 
 
     
     
         7 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 3  additionally comprising:
 a first housing connector positioned upon said first sidewall; 
 said first housing connector being removably engageable with a second housing connector positioned upon a second housing; and 
 said second housing having a second flexible member engaged at a first end thereof with a secondary reel within an internal cavity of said secondary housing, said second flexible member extending through a second opening in said secondary housing to a second clip at a second end thereof. 
 
     
     
         8 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 4  additionally comprising:
 a first housing connector positioned upon said first sidewall; 
 said first housing connector being removably engageable with a second housing connector positioned upon a second housing; and 
 said second housing having a second flexible member engaged at a first end thereof with a secondary reel within an internal cavity of said secondary housing, said second flexible member extending through a second opening in said secondary housing to a second clip at a second end thereof. 
 
     
     
         9 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 7  additionally comprising:
 said first housing connector being a magnet; and 
 said second housing connector being magnetically attractive. 
 
     
     
         10 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 8  additionally comprising:
 said first housing connector being a magnet; and 
 said second housing connector being magnetically attractive. 
 
     
     
         11 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 1  additionally comprising:
 said removable engagement with a golf cover formed by a positioning between a circular first clip contact on a first side of said clip surrounding a circular second clip contact on an opposite side of said clip. 
 
     
     
         12 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 2  additionally comprising:
 said removable engagement with a golf cover formed by a positioning between a circular first clip contact on a first side of said clip surrounding a circular second clip contact on an opposite side of said clip. 
 
     
     
         13 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 3  additionally comprising:
 said removable engagement with a golf cover formed by a positioning between a circular first clip contact on a first side of said clip surrounding a circular second clip contact on an opposite side of said clip. 
 
     
     
         14 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 7  additionally comprising:
 said removable engagement with a golf cover formed by a positioning between a circular first clip contact on a first side of said clip surrounding a circular second clip contact on an opposite side of said clip. 
 
     
     
         15 . The golf club cover retainment apparatus of  claim 9  additionally comprising:
 said removable engagement with a golf cover formed by a positioning between a circular first clip contact on a first side of said clip surrounding a circular second clip contact on an opposite side of said clip.
