Claims
Abstract
An accessory mounting system for securing a reflex target sight to a firearm includes a slot in a first end of a receiving portion of the firearm, a tab protruding from one end of the reflex target sight, the tab structured to mechanically engage with the slot, and a fastener structured to clamp a portion of the reflex target sight to the receiving portion of the firearm in a location apart from the slot.

1 . A reflex target sight for a firearm having a firearm slide with a receiving portion, the reflex target sight comprising:
a light emitter for generating a targeting light signal; a reflecting optic configured to reflect at least a portion of the generated targeting light signal back toward a user of the reflex target sight; a tab protruding from a first end of a main body of the reflex target sight structured to be inserted into a mating slot in the firearm slide adjacent the receiving portion; a first alignment pin integrated with and projecting from an underside of the main body of the reflex target sight and structured to be inserted into a first indexing hole in the receiving portion of the firearm slide when the reflex target sight is mounted to the firearm slide; and an aperture formed in the main body underside in a second end of the reflex target sight opposite the first end, the aperture structured to receive a fastener for securing the reflex target sight to the firearm slide.
2 . The reflex target sight according to claim 1 , in which the fastener is a screw, and in which the aperture is a threaded receiver for accepting the screw.
3 . The reflex target sight according to claim 1 , in which the aperture is a through hole, and in which the fastener is structured to pass through the through hole and attach to a receiver in a removable element of the reflex target sight.
4 . The reflex target sight according to claim 3 , in which the removable element is an iron site.
5 . The reflex target sight according to claim 4 , in which the receiver is a threaded receiver in the iron sight.
6 . The reflex target sight according to claim 5 , in which the fastener is structured to pass through both a through hole in the firearm slide as well as the through hole of the reflex target sight prior to being received in the threaded receiver in the iron sight.
7 . The reflex target sight according to claim 1 , in which the first alignment pin is located on a first side of a longitudinal midline of the reflex target sight.
8 . The reflex target sight according to claim 7 further comprising a second alignment pin integrated with and projecting from the main body underside of the reflex target sight and structured to be inserted into a second indexing hole in the receiving portion of the firearm slide when the reflex target sight is mounted to the firearm slide, in which the second alignment pin is located on a second side of the longitudinal midline of the reflex target sight, the second side opposite the first side.
9 . The reflex target sight according to claim 7 in which the first alignment pin is located between the first end of the main body of the reflex target sight and a lateral midline of the reflex target sight.

The reflex target sight according to claim 9 further comprising a second alignment pin integrated with and projecting from the main body underside of the reflex target sight and structured to be inserted into a second indexing hole in the receiving portion of the firearm slide when the reflex target sight is mounted to the firearm slide, in which the second alignment pin is located between the second end of the main body of the reflex target sight and the lateral midline of the reflex target sight.
11 . A reflex target sight for mounting to a receiving portion of a firearm slide of a firearm without the use of a separate mounting plate, the reflex target sight comprising:
a light emitter for generating a targeting light signal; a reflecting optic configured to reflect at least a portion of the generated targeting light signal back toward a user of the reflex target sight; a lip protruding from a first end of a main body of the reflex target sight structured to be inserted into a void in the firearm slide adjacent the receiving portion of the firearm; a first index pin integrated with and projecting from an underside of the main body of the reflex target sight and structured to be inserted into a first indexing hole in the receiving portion of the firearm slide when the reflex target sight is mounted to the firearm slide; a relatively planar rear landing extending from a second end of the main body of the reflex target sight, the second end opposite the first end; and an aperture formed in rear landing, the aperture structured to receive a fastener for securing the reflex target sight to the firearm slide.
12 . The reflex target sight according to claim 11 , in which the fastener is a screw, and in which the aperture is a threaded receiver for accepting the screw.
13 . The reflex target sight according to claim 11 , in which the aperture is a hole, and in which the fastener is structured to pass through the hole and attach to a receiver in a removable element of the reflex target sight to secure, in a clamping action, the removable element and the rear landing of the reflex target sight to the firearm slide.
14 . The reflex target sight according to claim 13 , in which the removable element is an iron site.
15 . The reflex target sight according to claim 14 , in which the receiver is a threaded receiver in the iron sight.
16 . The reflex target sight according to claim 15 , in which the fastener is structured to pass through both an aperture in the firearm slide as well as the hole of the reflex target sight prior to being received in the threaded receiver in the iron sight.
17 . The reflex target sight according to claim 11 , in which the first index pin is located on a first side of a longitudinal midline of the reflex target sight.
18 . The reflex target sight according to claim 17 further comprising a second index pin integrated with and projecting from the main body underside of the reflex target sight and structured to be inserted into a second indexing hole in the receiving portion of the firearm slide when the reflex target sight is mounted to the firearm slide, in which the second index pin is located on a second side of the longitudinal midline of the reflex target sight, opposite the first side.
19 . The reflex target sight according to claim 17 in which the first index pin is located between the first end of the main body of the reflex target sight and a lateral midline of the reflex target sight.
20 . The reflex target sight according to claim 19 further comprising a second index pin integrated with and projecting from the main body underside of the reflex target sight and structured to be inserted into a second indexing hole in the receiving portion of the firearm slide when the reflex target sight is mounted to the firearm slide, in which the second index pin is located between the second end of the main body of the reflex target sight and the lateral midline of the reflex target sight.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
