Safety Devices and Methods of Using a Safety Device
Abstract
Safety devices and methods of using a safety device are described. An example safety device includes a storage member and a retention device. The storage member has a first portion, a second portion, and defines a first chamber. The second portion is moveable between a first configuration and a second configuration. In the first configuration the second portion is releasably attached to the first portion such that the first portion and the second portion cooperatively define the chamber. In the second configuration the second portion is free of attachment to the first portion. The retention device is disposed within the chamber and has a retaining arm.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A safety device comprising:
a storage member having a first portion, a second portion, and defining a first chamber, the second portion moveable between a first configuration and a second configuration, in the first configuration the second portion is releasably attached to the first portion such that the first portion and the second portion cooperatively define the chamber, in the second configuration the second portion is free of attachment to the first portion; and a retention device disposed within the chamber and having a retaining arm.
2 . The safety device of claim 1 , wherein the second portion is pivotably attached to the storage member.
3 . The safety device of claim 1 , further comprising a tool releasably attached to the retention device;
wherein the tool is selected from a group consisting of a container of mace, an alarm, a siren, a flashing light, and an alert member.
4 . The safety device of claim 1 , wherein the first portion has a first side having a first attachment mechanism and the second portion has a second side having a second attachment mechanism, the first attachment releasably attachable to the second attachment mechanism.
5 . The safety device of claim 4 , wherein the first attachment mechanism and the second attachment mechanism are hook and loop fasteners.
6 . The safety device of claim 1 , further comprising a tab attached to the second portion.
7 . The safety device of claim 1 , wherein the storage member defines a second chamber;
wherein the storage member defines a third chamber; and wherein the storage member defines a fourth chamber.
8 . The safety device of claim 1 , further comprising a container of mace releasably attached to the retention device.
9 . The safety device of claim 1 , further comprising a first alert member releasably attached to the retention device.
10 . The safety device of claim 1 , wherein the retention device has a body, a first compartment, and a second compartment.
11 . The safety device of claim 10 , further comprising a container of mace releasably attached to the retention device and disposed between the body of the retention device and the retaining arm; and
further comprising a first alert member releasably attached to the retention device and disposed within the first compartment.
12 . The safety device of claim 11 , wherein the first alert member has body and a first flag, the first flag releasably attached to the body of the first alert member.
13 . The safety device of claim 12 , wherein the first alert member is configured to produce an alerting sound when the first flag is detached from the first alert member; and
wherein the first alert member is configured to produce a flashing light when the first flag is detached from the first alert member.
14 . The safety device of claim 12 , wherein the first alert member is configured to produce an alerting sound and a flashing light when the first flag is detached from the first alert member.
15 . The safety device of claim 10 , further comprising a second alert member releasably attached to the retention device and disposed within the second compartment.
16 . The safety device of claim 15 , wherein the second alert member has body and a second flag, the second flag releasably attached to the body of the second alert member.
17 . The safety device of claim 16 , wherein the second alert member is configured to produce an alerting sound when the second flag is detached from the second alert member.
18 . The safety device of claim 16 , wherein the second alert member is configured to produce an alerting sound and a flashing light when the second flag is detached from the second alert member.
19 . A safety device comprising:
a storage member having a first portion, a second portion, and defining a first chamber, the second portion moveable between a first configuration and a second configuration and pivotably attached to the storage member, in the first configuration the second portion is releasably attached to the first portion such that the first portion and the second portion cooperatively define the chamber, in the second configuration the second portion is free of attachment to the first portion; a retention device disposed within the chamber; and a tool releasably attached to the retention device.
20 . A method of using a safety device comprising:
obtaining a safety device, the safety device comprising:
a storage member having a first portion, a second portion, and defining a first chamber, the second portion moveable between a first configuration and a second configuration, in the first configuration the second portion is releasably attached to the first portion such that the first portion and the second portion cooperatively define the chamber, in the second configuration the second portion is free of attachment to the first portion;
a retention device disposed within the chamber and having a retaining arm; and
a tool releasably attached to the retention device;
attaching the safety device to a waist of a user; moving the second portion from the first configuration to the second configuration; removing the tool from the retention device; and using the tool.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
