Abstract

A wastewater drain assembly is provided that includes a selectively openable drain stopper. The wastewater drain assembly is interconnected to a fluid basin wherein a flange, which is interconnected to wastewater plumbing, is situated within the sink. The flange receives an insert that has a portion that conceals the flange.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A wastewater drain system comprising:
a ball rod; a body configured to be coupled to a wastewater drain port of a fluid receptacle, the body comprising a first end and an opposite second end, and an outer surface and an inner surface, wherein a first opening is defined in the body between the first end and the second end for at least partial receipt of the ball rod, and wherein a second opening is defined in the body proximate the first end; a seat disposed within the body and coupled to the inner surface; a stem disposed within the body and comprising a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end comprises a stopper configured to selectively engage with the seat in a closed position and be raised above the seat in an open position, and wherein the distal end is configured to couple to the ball rod; and an insert removably coupled to the first end of the body, wherein when the insert is coupled to the first end of the body, the stopper and the seat are at least partially concealed by the insert when the stopper is in the open position and when the stopper is in the closed position.

2 . The wastewater drain system of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the body is threaded and the first end comprises a flange.

3 . The wastewater drain system of claim 1 , wherein the insert comprises an upper surface with a plurality of holes, the upper surface comprising a strainer.

4 . The wastewater drain system of claim 1 , wherein the body comprises a boss that at least partially defines the first opening that receives the ball rod, and wherein the boss is recessed within the body such that an outer surface of the boss is aligned with or below an outer dimension of the body.

5 . The wastewater drain system of claim 1 , wherein the stopper is disposed inside the body.

6 . The wastewater drain system of claim 1 , wherein the insert comprises a seal that cooperates with the body to secure the insert to the body.

7 . The wastewater drain system of claim 1 , wherein the first end of the body is threaded, and further comprising a nut threadingly interconnected to the body.

         8 . A wastewater drain system, comprising:
a ball rod; a body configured to be coupled to a wastewater drain port of a fluid receptacle, wherein a first opening is defined in the body for at least partial receipt of the ball rod, wherein the first opening is at least partially defined by a boss extending outwards from the body; a seat disposed within the body; a stem disposed within the body and comprising a stopper configured to selectively engage with the seat in a closed position and be raised above the seat in an open position, and wherein the stem is configured to couple to the ball rod; and an insert removably coupled to the body, wherein when the insert is coupled to the body, the stopper and the seat are at least partially concealed by the insert.

9 . The wastewater drain system of claim 8 , wherein the body comprises a recess, and wherein the first opening is defined in the recess.

10 . The wastewater drain system of claim 9 , wherein the boss extends outwards from the recess.

11 . The wastewater drain system of claim 8 , wherein the boss is configured to receive a nut that secures to the ball rod.

12 . The wastewater drain system of claim 8 , wherein at least a portion of the body is a substantially hollow cylinder.

13 . The wastewater drain system of claim 8 , further comprising a seal and a nut attached to the body and configured to secure the body to the fluid receptacle.

14 . The wastewater drain system of claim 8 , wherein the body comprises a threaded portion that terminates at a flange of the body.

         15 . A wastewater drain system, comprising:
a ball rod; a body configured to be coupled to a wastewater drain port of a fluid receptacle, wherein a first opening is defined in the body for at least partial receipt of the ball rod, wherein the body comprises a recess, and wherein the first opening is defined in the recess; a seat disposed within the body; a stem disposed within the body and comprising a stopper configured to selectively engage with the seat in a closed position and be raised above the seat in an open position, and wherein the stem is configured to couple to the ball rod; and an insert removably coupled to the body, wherein when the insert is coupled to the body, the stopper and the seat are at least partially concealed by the insert.

16 . The wastewater drain system of claim 15 , wherein the body comprises a boss that at least partially defines the first opening that receives the ball rod, and wherein the boss is recessed within the body such that an outer surface of the boss is aligned with or below an outer dimension of the body.

17 . The wastewater drain system of claim 15 , wherein the stopper is disposed inside the body.

18 . The wastewater drain system of claim 15 , wherein the insert comprises a seal that cooperates with the body to secure the insert to the body.

19 . The wastewater drain system of claim 15 , wherein at least a portion of the body is threaded, and further comprising a nut threadingly interconnected to the body.

20 . The wastewater drain system of claim 15 , wherein the insert comprises an upper surface with a plurality of holes, the upper surface comprising a strainer.
