Abstract
An electronic device invokes a pairing mode for pairing the electronic device with an external device, displays an indication of a movement of the external device that meets respective criteria, detects that the external device has moved so that it meets the respective criteria, and initiates a process for registering the external device as a paired device in response to detecting that the external device ahs moved so that it meets the respective criteria.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An electronic device, comprising:
a display device; one or more input devices; one or more processors; and memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:
invoking a wireless communications pairing mode for pairing the electronic device with an external device;
displaying, via the display device, an indication of a movement of the external device that meets respective criteria;
detecting, via the one or more input devices, that the external device has moved so that it meets the respective criteria;
in response to detecting, via the one or more input devices, that the external device has moved so that it meets the respective criteria, initiating a process for registering the external device as a paired device, including transferring information from the external device to the electronic device.
2 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:
prior to invoking the wireless communication pairing mode for pairing the electronic device with the external device, detecting that the electronic device is positioned on a body of a user of the electronic device.
3 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein initiating the process for registering the external device as a paired device includes receiving information that the external device has invoked a pairing mode.
4 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein initiating the process for registering the external device as a paired device includes prompting a user to capture an image.
5 . The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein prompting the user to capture the image includes prompting the user to capture an image of a pattern.
6 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:
after registering the external device as a paired device, outputting a non-visual indication confirming that the external device has been registered as a paired device.
7 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:
after registering the external device as a paired device, displaying, via the display device, an indication confirming that the external device has been registered as a paired device.
8 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein transferring the information from the external device to the electronic device includes transferring user information from the external device to the electronic device.
9 . The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:
after registering the external device as a paired device, initiating a configuration sequence for the electronic device.
10 . The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the confirmation sequence for the electronic device includes configuring an orientation setting of the electronic device.
11 . The electronic device of claim 10 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:
detecting, via the one or more input devices, an orientation of the electronic device; and configuring the orientation setting of the electronic device based on the detected orientation of the electronic device.
12 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of an electronic device with a display device and one or more input devices, the one or more programs including instructions for:
invoking a wireless communications pairing mode for pairing the electronic device with an external device; displaying, via the display device, an indication of a movement of the external device that meets respective criteria; detecting, via the one or more input devices, that the external device has moved so that it meets the respective criteria; in response to detecting, via the one or more input devices, that the external device has moved so that it meets the respective criteria, initiating a process for registering the external device as a paired device, including transferring information from the external device to the electronic device.
13 . A method, comprising:
at an electronic device with a display device and one or more input devices:
invoking a wireless communications pairing mode for pairing the electronic device with an external device;
displaying, via the display device, an indication of a movement of the external device that meets respective criteria;
detecting, via the one or more input devices, that the external device has moved so that it meets the respective criteria;
in response to detecting, via the one or more input devices, that the external device has moved so that it meets the respective criteria, initiating a process for registering the external device as a paired device, including transferring information from the external device to the electronic device.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
