Wide area progressive bonus system and method within a mobile casino gaming application

Abstract

A progressive bonus award system integrated within a mobile application is disclosed. Upon receiving data of a transaction performed by a player using the mobile application and determining that the player is participating in a progressive bonus award associated with the mobile application, a determination is made whether to issue a ticket to the player for the transaction performed by the player. The ticket includes a ticket identifier. An additional value is added to the progressive bonus award based at least in part on the transaction performed by the player to progressively increase the progressive bonus award during a promotional time period, and at the end of the promotional time period, a winning ticket identifier is randomly drawn and verified that the winning ticket identifier matches the ticket identifier of the ticket issued to the player and displayed within the mobile application along with an awarded amount to the player.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A progressive bonus award system integrated within a mobile application, comprising:
 a memory device storing instructions; and   a game controller comprising a processor configured to execute the instructions stored in the memory device, which, when executed, cause the game controller to:
 receive, from a wallet orchestrator associated with the mobile application, data of a transaction performed by a player of a plurality of players using the mobile application executing on a user computing device of the player; 
 list the transaction data in a digital ledger associated with the mobile application, the transaction data including player information of the player; 
 in response to determining that the player is participating in a progressive bonus award associated with the mobile application, determine whether to issue a ticket to the player for the transaction performed by the player, the ticket including a ticket identifier and providing the player a chance to win the progressive bonus award; 
 in response to issuing a ticket to the player for the transaction performed by the player, add an entry to the digital ledger including ticket information of the issued ticket, the entry being linked to the player; 
 add an additional value to the progressive bonus award based at least in part on the transaction performed by the player to progressively increase the progressive bonus award during a promotional time period; 
 at the end of the promotional time period, randomly draw a winning ticket identifier of a winning ticket and verify that the winning ticket identifier matches the ticket identifier of the ticket issued to the player; and 
 provide, via the mobile application, notification of the winning ticket to at least the player. 
   
     
     
         2 . The progressive bonus award system of  claim 1 , wherein one or more casino properties are associated with the progressive bonus award, and loyalty points corresponding to each of the one or more casino properties and belonging to the player may be exchanged for one or more additional tickets for entry into the progressive bonus award. 
     
     
         3 . The progressive bonus award system of  claim 2 , wherein the loyalty points are convertible on a location-based basis corresponding to a location of each of the one or more casino properties. 
     
     
         4 . The progressive bonus award system of  claim 1 , wherein an amount of the progressive bonus award increases in accordance with predefined quantities of tickets being awarded to the plurality of players. 
     
     
         5 . The progressive bonus award system of  claim 1 , wherein the instructions stored in the memory device, which, when executed, further cause the game controller to issue one or more additional tickets to the player based on a badge level earned by the player. 
     
     
         6 . The progressive bonus award system of  claim 1 , wherein the instructions stored in the memory device, which, when executed, further cause the game controller to create the progressive bonus award using seed capital provided by a casino property participating in the progressive bonus award. 
     
     
         7 . The progressive bonus award system of  claim 1 , wherein the instructions stored in the memory device, which, when executed, further cause the game controller to identify and issue meta-awards to a player of the plurality of players who earned a highest number of tickets at each participating casino property during the promotional time period. 
     
     
         8 . The progressive bonus award system of  claim 1 , wherein the wallet orchestrator is associated with the mobile application and configured as an on-premises wallet system of a casino property participating in the progressive bonus award and orchestrates the listing of one or more tickets issued to the player in the ledger. 
     
     
         9 . The progressive bonus award system of  claim 1 , further comprising a ticket database and transaction database, wherein the instructions stored in the memory device, which, when executed, further cause the game controller to cause the issuance of the ticket to the player based on a result of a comparison made between the transaction data, a plurality of rules stored within the ticket database, and a plurality of rules stored within the transaction database. 
     
     
         10 . The progressive bonus award system of  claim 1 , wherein transactions that qualify for awarding of a ticket include at least one from the group of: (i) the player downloading the mobile application; (ii) the player's usage of the mobile application; and/or (iii) the player transferring funds via one or more accounts associated with the mobile application. 
     
     
         11 . A computer-implemented method for providing a progressive bonus award system integrated within a mobile application implemented using at least one processor with at least one memory, comprising:
 receiving, from a wallet orchestrator associated with the mobile application, data of a transaction performed by a player of a plurality of players using the mobile application executing on a user computing device of the player;   listing the transaction data in a digital ledger associated with the mobile application, the transaction data including player information of the player;   in response to determining that the player is participating in a progressive bonus award associated with the mobile application, determining whether to issue a ticket to the player for the transaction performed by the player, the ticket including a ticket identifier and providing the player a chance to win the progressive bonus award;   in response to issuing a ticket to the player for the transaction performed by the player, adding an entry to the digital ledger including ticket information of the issued ticket, the entry being linked to the player;   adding an additional value to the progressive bonus award based at least in part on the transaction performed by the player to progressively increase the progressive bonus award during a promotional time period;   at the end of the promotional time period, randomly drawing a winning ticket identifier of a winning ticket and verify that the winning ticket identifier matches the ticket identifier of the ticket issued to the player; and   providing, via the mobile application, notification of the winning ticket to at least the player.   
     
     
         12 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , wherein one or more casino properties are associated with the progressive bonus award, and loyalty points corresponding to each of the one or more casino properties and belonging to the player may be exchanged for one or more additional tickets for entry into the progressive bonus award. 
     
     
         13 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , wherein an amount of the progressive bonus award increases in accordance with predefined quantities of tickets being awarded to the plurality of players. 
     
     
         14 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , wherein the wallet orchestrator is associated with the mobile application and configured as an on-premises wallet system of a casino property participating in the progressive bonus award and orchestrates the listing of one or more tickets issued to the player in the ledger. 
     
     
         15 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 11 , further comprising causing the issuance of the ticket to the player based on a result of a comparison made between the transaction data, a plurality of rules stored within a ticket database, and a plurality of rules stored within a transaction database. 
     
     
         16 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media with a plurality of instructions stored thereon that, in response to being executed, cause a game controller to:
 receive, from a wallet orchestrator associated with the mobile application, data of a transaction performed by a player of a plurality of players using the mobile application executing on a user computing device of the player;   list the transaction data in a digital ledger associated with the mobile application, the transaction data including player information of the player;   in response to determining that the player is participating in a progressive bonus award associated with the mobile application, determine whether to issue a ticket to the player for the transaction performed by the player, the ticket including a ticket identifier and providing the player a chance to win the progressive bonus award;   in response to issuing a ticket to the player for the transaction performed by the player, add an entry to the digital ledger including ticket information of the issued ticket, the entry being linked to the player;   add an additional value to the progressive bonus award based at least in part on the transaction performed by the player to progressively increase the progressive bonus award during a promotional time period;   at the end of the promotional time period, randomly draw a winning ticket identifier of a winning ticket and verify that the winning ticket identifier matches the ticket identifier of the ticket issued to the player; and   provide, via the mobile application, notification of the winning ticket to at least the player.   
     
     
         17 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of  claim 16 , wherein one or more casino properties are associated with the progressive bonus award, and loyalty points corresponding to each of the one or more casino properties and belonging to the player may be exchanged for one or more additional tickets for entry into the progressive bonus award. 
     
     
         18 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of  claim 16 , wherein an amount of the progressive bonus award increases in accordance with predefined quantities of tickets being awarded to the plurality of players.

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of  claim 16 , wherein the wallet orchestrator is associated with the mobile application and configured as an on-premises wallet system of a casino property participating in the progressive bonus award and orchestrates the listing of one or more tickets issued to the player in the ledger.

The one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media of  claim 16 , wherein the instructions, in response to being executed, further cause the game controller to cause the issuance of the ticket to the player based on a result of a comparison made between the transaction data, a plurality of rules stored within a ticket database, and a plurality of rules stored within a transaction database.
