Modular tactical helmet
Abstract
A modular tactical helmet system comprising an outer shell, an intermediate shell, and an inner shell. The shells can be configured as hard shells, cushioned shells, shock absorbing bump shells, or ballistic shells. The shells are interchangeable and removably attachable to one another by mounts and/or interference fits. All the shells or only some of the shells may include one or more ventilation openings. The outer shell or the intermediate shell may include a first accessory space for receiving a first accessory thereon. About the side portions of the outer shell or intermediate shell, the shells may include a secondary accessory space for receiving a secondary accessory thereon. In one exemplary embodiment, the inner shell may comprise one or more inflatable pads connected to an inflation member including an inflation valve.

an outer shell including an outer surface, a concavity, and an inner surface delimiting the concavity; and at least one inner shell disposed within the concavity of the outer shell, wherein the inner shell and the outer shell are securable to one another via at least one mounting apparatus.
2 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 1 , wherein disposed about a front portion of the outer shell is a mounting apparatus space adapted for mounting an accessory onto the outer shell.
3 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 1 , wherein disposed about at least one side portion of the outer shell is a mounting apparatus space adapted for mounting an accessory onto the outer shell.
4 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 1 , wherein the outer shell is hard shell.
5 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 1 , wherein the outer shell is a ballistic shell.
6 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 1 , wherein the inner shell is one of a ballistic shell, a bump shell, or a cushioned shell.
7 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 1 , wherein the outer shell includes one or more ventilation openings.
8 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 1 , wherein the inner shell includes one or more ventilation openings.
9 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 1 , wherein the inner shell comprises a cushioned shell comprising one or more inflatable pads secured to one another via one or more retention straps, and an inflation membrane including at least one conduit and at least one inflation valve configured to engage with an inflation device used to inflate the one or more inflatable pads.
10 . A modular tactical helmet, comprising:
an outer shell including an outer surface, a concavity, and an inner surface delimiting the concavity; an intermediate shell disposed within the concavity of the outer shell, the intermediate shell including an outer surface, a concavity, and an inner surface delimiting the concavity; and an inner shell disposed within the concavity of the intermediate shell, the inner shell including an outer surface, a concavity configured to receive a wearer's head, and an inner surface delimiting the concavity, wherein the modular tactical helmet includes at least one mounting apparatus for securing the inner shell and the outer shell together.
11 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 10 , wherein disposed about a front portion of the outer shell is a mounting apparatus space adapted for mounting an accessory onto the outer shell.
12 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 10 , wherein disposed about at least one side portion of the outer shell is a mounting apparatus space adapted for mounting an accessory onto the outer shell.
13 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 10 , wherein the intermediate shell is bump shell.
14 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 10 , wherein the intermediate shell is a ballistic shell.
15 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 10 , wherein the inner shell is a cushioned shell.
16 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 10 , wherein the outer shell is a hard shell.
17 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 10 , wherein the outer shell includes one or more ventilation openings.
18 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 10 , wherein the intermediate shell is secured between the outer shell and the inner shell by an interference fit.
19 . The modular tactical helmet of claim 1 , wherein the inner shell includes one or more ventilation openings.

The modular tactical helmet of claim 1 , wherein the inner shell comprises one or more inflatable pads secured to one another via one or more retention straps, and an inflation membrane including at least one conduit and at least one inflation valve configured to engage with an inflation device used to inflate the one or more inflatable pads.
21 . A modular tactical helmet, comprising:
a hard shell including an outer surface, a concavity, and an inner surface delimiting the concavity; a ballistic shell disposed within the concavity of the hard shell, the ballistic shell including an outer surface, a concavity, and an inner surface delimiting the concavity; and a cushioned shell disposed within the concavity of the ballistic shell, the cushioned shell including an outer surface, a concavity configured to receive a wearer's head, and an inner surface delimiting the concavity, wherein the modular tactical helmet includes at least one mounting apparatus for securing the hard shell and the cushioned shell together.

The modular tactical helmet of claim 21 , wherein the cushioned shell comprises one or more inflatable pads secured to one another via one or more retention straps, and an inflation membrane including at least one conduit and at least one inflation valve configured to engage with an inflation device used to inflate the one or more inflatable pads.
