Abstract
A display device includes: a substrate; an interlayer insulating layer that is provided inward of a periphery of the substrate, on a side corresponding to one principal surface of the substrate, and includes a resin material; an organic EL array that is provided on the interlayer insulating layer and includes a plurality of organic EL elements; an embankment provided outward of the interlayer insulating layer and inward of the periphery of the substrate, on the side corresponding to the one principal surface; and a sealing layer provided continuously on the organic EL array, the interlayer insulating layer, and the embankment and extending up to the periphery of the substrate or a vicinity of the periphery to cover the organic EL array, the interlayer insulating layer, and the embankment. The cross-sectional shape of the embankment is convex in a direction opposite to a direction toward the one principal surface.

a substrate; an interlayer insulating layer that is provided inward of a periphery of the substrate, on a side corresponding to one principal surface of the substrate, the interlayer insulating layer including a resin material; an organic electroluminescent (EL) array that is provided on the interlayer insulating layer and includes a plurality of organic EL elements; an embankment provided outward of the interlayer insulating layer and inward of the periphery of the substrate, on the side corresponding to the one principal surface of the substrate; and a sealing layer provided continuously on the organic EL array, the interlayer insulating layer, and the embankment and extending up to the periphery of the substrate or a vicinity of the periphery to cover the organic EL array, the interlayer insulating layer, and the embankment, wherein a cross-sectional shape of the embankment is convex in a direction opposite to a direction toward the one principal surface of the substrate.
2 . The display device according to claim 1 , further comprising:
an adhesion layer provided on the sealing layer to cover part of the sealing layer; and a polarizing plate provided on the adhesion layer, wherein a peripheral end of the polarizing plate is located outward of the interlayer insulating layer and inward of a peripheral end of the sealing layer, and the embankment is located outward of the peripheral end of the polarizing plate.
3 . The display device according to claim 2 , wherein
the display device includes a first region and a second region located outward of the first region, the first region including a thin film transistor (TFT) layer of the substrate, when seen from a direction perpendicular to the substrate:
the interlayer insulating layer is located in at least the first region;
the organic EL array is located in the first region;
the sealing layer, the adhesion layer, and the polarizing plate are located in both the first region and the second region; and
the embankment is located in the second region.
4 . The display device according to claim 3 , wherein
the interlayer insulating layer includes a lower interlayer insulating layer provided on the substrate and an upper interlayer insulating layer provided farther from the one principal surface of the substrate than the lower interlayer insulating layer is, in the second region, a silicon nitride film is provided on the substrate, the embankment is provided on the silicon nitride film in the second region, and at least part of the embankment is made from same material as the upper interlayer insulating layer.
5 . The display device according to claim 1 , comprising:
a plurality of embankments arranged in a direction toward the periphery of the substrate from an inner side of the substrate, the plurality of embankments each being the embankment.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
