Abstract

The device for positioning wall hangers allows a user to both position and apply a wall hanger at a selected position on a wall surface. The device for positioning wall hangers includes a housing having opposed front and rear surfaces, with a recess formed in the rear surface, and with a clamp mounted within the recess. An actuator is mounted on the front surface of the housing, and the actuator is mechanically coupled to the clamp for selectively opening and closing the clamp. In use, the clamp releasably holds the wall hanger and the user positions the housing at the desired location on the wall and releasably holds the housing at the desired location such that the rear surface of the housing faces the wall. The user then actuates the actuator, which causes the clamp to release the wall hanger for application thereof at the desired location.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified

a housing having opposed front and rear surfaces, wherein a recess is formed in the rear surface of the housing; a clamp mounted within the recess formed in the rear surface of the housing; and an actuator mounted on the front surface of the housing, wherein the actuator is coupled to the clamp for selectively opening and closing the clamp, wherein the clamp is adapted for releasably holding a wall hanger, and wherein the housing is adapted to be positioned at a desired location of a wall and further adapted to be releasably held at the desired location, such that the rear surface of the housing faces the wall, and such that user actuation of the actuator causes the clamp to release the wall hanger for application thereof at the desired location of the wall.

2 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 1 , wherein the wall hanger is an adhesive wall hanger, and wherein the clamp is adapted to releasably hold the wall hanger such that an adhesive surface thereof faces outwardly from the recess formed in the rear surface of the housing.

3 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of rollers rotatably mounted to the rear surface of the housing.

4 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 3 , wherein the plurality of rollers comprise a plurality of ball bearings.

5 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 1 , wherein the actuator comprises a rotatable knob.

6 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 5 , further comprising a spirit level mounted on the rotatable knob.

7 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 1 , further comprising:
at least one extension arm; and at least one locking port mounted on the front surface of the housing, wherein a locking end of the at least one extension arm is releasably lockable in the at least one locking port.

8 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 7 , wherein the at least one extension arm comprises at least first and second extension arms, and wherein the device for positioning wall hangers further comprises a connector for releasably joining the first and second extension arms together.

9 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 8 , further comprising an angular adapter for releasably joining the first and second extension arms together at a desired angle with respect to one another.

10 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 1 , wherein the clamp comprises a first pair of arms movable in a first direction and a second pair of arms movable in a second direction.

11 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 10 , wherein the first direction is orthogonal to the second direction.

12 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 11 , wherein the clamp further comprises a first set of rails and a second set of rails, wherein the first pair of arms is slidable on the first set of rails and the second pair of arms is slidable on the second set of rails.

13 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 12 , wherein each of the first pair of arms is secured to a corresponding first linear gear, wherein each of the second pair of arms is secured to a corresponding second linear gear, wherein each of the first and second linear gears engages with a circular gear, and wherein the circular gear is coupled to the actuator such that the actuator drives rotation of the circular gear.

14 . A device for positioning wall hangers, comprising:
a housing having opposed front and rear surfaces, wherein a recess is formed in the rear surface of the housing; a clamp mounted within the recess formed in the rear surface of the housing; an actuator mounted on the front surface of the housing, wherein the actuator is coupled to the clamp for selectively opening and closing the clamp; at least one extension arm; and at least one locking port mounted on the front surface of the housing, wherein a locking end of the at least one extension arm is releasably lockable in the at least one locking port, wherein the clamp is adapted for releasably holding a wall hanger, and wherein the housing is adapted to be positioned at a desired location of a wall and further adapted to be releasably held at the desired location, such that the rear surface of the housing faces the wall, and such that user actuation of the actuator causes the clamp to release the wall hanger for application thereof at the desired location of the wall.

15 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 14 , wherein the wall hanger is an adhesive wall hanger, and wherein the clamp is adapted to releasably hold the wall hanger such that an adhesive surface thereof faces outwardly from the recess formed in the rear surface of the housing.

16 . The device for positioning wall hangers as recited in claim 14 , further comprising a plurality of rollers rotatably mounted to the rear surface of the housing.
