Abstract

Smoking articles, and methods for forming such smoking articles, such as an electronic smoking article, are provided. An exemplary smoking article comprises a control body portion having a control body engagement end, and having a first control component therein. A cartridge body portion includes a cartridge body engagement end configured to removably engage the control body engagement end of the control body portion. The cartridge body portion further includes a consumable arrangement comprising at least an aerosol precursor composition and at least one heating element operably engaged therewith, and a second control component. At least the consumable arrangement is configured to be in communication with the first control component upon engagement between the cartridge body and control body portions.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 20 . (canceled)

21 . An aerosol delivery device comprising:
an outer shell defining an interior cavity and comprising a length defined between a first end and a second end; and a mouthpiece proximate the second end of the outer shell; a power source within the interior cavity of the outer shell; an atomizer within the interior cavity of the outer shell; an aerosol precursor composition within the interior cavity of the outer shell, the aerosol precursor composition being operatively arranged with the atomizer that is configured to receive power from the power source to aerosolize the aerosol precursor composition and form an aerosol for passage through the mouthpiece; and a control component arranged within the interior cavity of the outer shell and configured to monitor system parameters of the aerosol delivery device and communicate the system parameters to an external electronic device.

22 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 21 , wherein the outer shell comprises a cross-sectional shape having two sets of parallel sides.

23 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 22 , wherein the cross-sectional shape is a rectangle.

24 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 21 , wherein the system parameters include one or more of battery condition, remaining amount of the aerosol precursor composition, number of puffs, and a location of the aerosol delivery device.

25 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 21 , wherein the control component comprises a computer communication device arranged to communicate the system parameters to an application of the external electronic device.

26 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 21 , wherein a flow path of the aerosol so formed is at least partially defined along an axis aligned with an opening in the mouthpiece.

27 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 26 , wherein at least a portion of the atomizer is arranged within the interior cavity such that it is substantially non-perpendicular to the axis of the flow path.

28 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 21 , wherein the atomizer comprises a substrate and a heating element, the substrate being arranged to receive the aerosol precursor composition and deliver it to the heating element.

29 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 28 , wherein the heating element is arranged in direct contact with the substrate, such that the heating element heats the substrate including the aerosol precursor composition to form the aerosol.

30 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 28 , wherein the substrate comprises a porous material.

31 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 21 , wherein the control component is configured to communicate the system parameters to the external electronic device in response to an action taken with the aerosol delivery device by a user.

32 . The aerosol delivery device of claim 21 , further comprising a puff sensor activated by puff on the aerosol delivery device by a user, the power source being configured to deliver the power to the atomizer in response to activation of the puff sensor.
