Beverage container with insert

Abstract

A multi-purpose insulating beverage container includes a container body with an open upper end, a removable insert configured for insertion into the container body via the open upper end, and a cover adapted to engage the container body and retain the insert within the container body. The interior of the container body and insert include a plurality of annular ledges with different diameters sized to support beverage bottles or cans of different sizes.

1 . An insert for an insulating beverage container to support the base of a variety of beverage cans and bottles when placed in the insulating beverage container, the insert comprising:
 a circular open first end;   a circular open second end;   a side extending between said first end and said second end, said side including:
 a first portion adjacent said first end and having a first portion outer diameter; 
 a second portion adjacent said second end and having a second portion outer diameter, said first portion outer diameter being smaller than said second portion outer diameter; and 
 an annular side ledge formed between said first portion and said second portion; and 
   an internal bore extending between said first end and said second end, said internal bore including:
 a first segment adjacent said first end and having a first segment interior diameter; 
 a second segment adjacent said first segment and having a second segment interior diameter smaller than said first segment interior diameter; 
 a third segment adjacent said second segment and having a third segment interior diameter smaller than said second segment interior diameter; and 
 a fourth segment adjacent said third segment and adjacent said second end and having a fourth segment interior diameter larger than said first segment interior diameter. 
   
     
     
         2 . The insert of  claim 1 , wherein:
 said first segment interior diameter is about 63.4 mm;   said second segment interior diameter is about 61.0 mm;   said third segment interior diameter is about 52.0 mm; and   said fourth segment interior diameter is about 67.0 mm.   
     
     
         3 . The insert of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a first ledge formed between said first segment and said second segment;   a second ledge formed between said second segment and said third segment; and   a third ledge formed between said third segment and said fourth segment.   
     
     
         4 . The insert of  claim 3 , wherein said first ledge is at an angle of about 120°. 
     
     
         5 . The insert of  claim 4 , wherein said second ledge is at an angle of about 124°. 
     
     
         6 . The insert of  claim 3 , wherein said second ledge is at an angle of about 124°. 
     
     
         7 . The insert of  claim 3 , wherein said third ledge includes a first ledge portion adjacent said fourth segment and a second ledge portion adjacent said third segment. 
     
     
         8 . The insert of  claim 7 , wherein the first ledge portion is at an angle of about 120° and the second ledge portion is at an angle of about 150°.
