Abstract

A dishwasher and a reversible tray for a dishwasher a reversible tray carried by the dish rack and removably disposed within the dish rack to flip between a first position and a second position.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A dishwasher for treating dishes according to a cycle of operation, the dishwasher comprising:
a tub at least partially defining a treating chamber; a dish rack received within the treating chamber for supporting dishes and comprising at least a pair of spaced tines; and a reversible tray carried by the dish rack and removably disposed within the dish rack to flip between a first position and a second position, the reversible tray having a first sidewall and a second sidewall and a base wall extending between the first and second sidewalls, the first and second sidewalls having opposing peripheral edges and comprising at least one protrusion extending laterally from the opposing peripheral edges, wherein the at least one protrusion is configured to fit between the at least a pair of spaced tines.

2 . The dishwasher of claim 1 , wherein the base wall divides the reversible tray into a primary container and a secondary container, the primary container configured to receive dishes when in the first position and the secondary container configured to receive dishes when in the second position.

3 . The dishwasher of claim 2 , wherein the base wall is angled with respect to the first and second sidewalls.

4 . The dishwasher of claim 1 wherein the first sidewall, second sidewall, and base wall together define at least one container.

5 . The dishwasher of claim 2 wherein the opposing peripheral edges include a primary edge defining a perimeter of the primary container and a secondary edge defining a perimeter of the secondary container.

6 . The dishwasher of claim 5 wherein the primary edge is vertically spaced from an upper rim of the dish rack to define the first position.

7 . The dishwasher of claim 6 wherein the secondary edge is level with the upper rim of the dish rack to define the second position.

8 . The dishwasher of claim 1 wherein the first sidewall has a first depth and the second sidewall has a second depth, the first depth being greater than the second depth.

9 . The dishwasher of claim 1 wherein the reversible tray is removable during a cycle of operation to define an open space in the dish rack.

10 . The dishwasher of claim 1 wherein in the first position, the reversible tray defines a first height between an upper dish rack and a lower dish rack, and in the second position, the reversible tray defines a second height between the upper dish rack and the lower dish rack, the second height being greater than the first height.

11 . The dishwasher of claim 10 wherein the reversible tray is a cutlery tray.

12 . The dishwasher of claim 2 wherein the primary container defines a first volume and the secondary container defines a second volume less than the first volume.

13 . The dishwasher of claim 10 wherein the reversible tray is removable during a cycle of operation to define an open space in the dish rack.

14 . A reversible tray for a dishwasher carried by a dish rack and removably disposed within the dish rack to flip between a first position and a second position, the reversible tray having a first sidewall and a second sidewall and a base wall extending between the first and second sidewalls, the first and second sidewalls having opposing peripheral edges and comprising at least one protrusion extending laterally from the opposing peripheral edges, wherein the at least one protrusion is configured to fit between the at least a pair of spaced tines.

15 . The reversible tray of claim 14 wherein the base wall divides the reversible tray into a primary container and a secondary container, the primary container configured to receive dishes when in the first position and the secondary container configured to receive dishes when in the second position.

16 . The reversible tray of claim 15 wherein the base wall is angled with respect to the first and second sidewalls.

17 . The reversible tray of claim 14 wherein the first sidewall, second sidewall, and base wall together define at least one container.

18 . The reversible tray of claim 15 wherein the opposing peripheral edges include a primary edge defining a perimeter of the primary container and a secondary edge defining a perimeter of the secondary container.

19 . The reversible tray of claim 18 wherein the primary edge is vertically spaced from an upper rim of the dish rack to define the first position.

20 . The reversible tray of claim 18 wherein the secondary edge is level with the upper rim of the dish rack to define the second position.
