Abstract

A computing system for executing a simulation of a tactical engagement configured to receive a first set of data comprising an indication that a laser sensor worn by a participant was struck by a laser transmitted from a firearm; and receive a second set of data from the firearm comprising data generated by an image capture device of the firearm and an indication that one or more of the participants are present in the data. The computing system is further configured to retrieve data comprising position information and velocity information on the participants that are present in the second set of data. The computing system is further configured to identify a target participant from the participants identified in the second set of data; determine whether the target participant is struck by a simulated ammunition round fired from the firearm; and determine a final outcome for the tactical engagement.

1 . A simulation system for executing a simulation of a tactical engagement, the simulation system comprising:
 a plurality of firearms, each firearm associated with a participant of a plurality of participants in the simulation and comprising a laser device and an image capture device;   a plurality of laser sensors worn by the plurality of participants in the simulation; and   a computing system comprising a memory and one or more processors,   wherein the memory stores one or more programs that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
 receive an indication that a firearm of the plurality of firearms simulated a firing; 
 receive a first set of data generated by an image capture device of the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated a firing, wherein the first set of data includes an indication that one or more of the plurality of participants are present in the first set of data; 
 determine whether one or more of the laser sensors worn by the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by a laser transmitted from the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated the firing; 
 retrieve, from a data storage, a second set of data comprising position information and velocity information associated with the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data; 
 determine, based on the second set of data, whether the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by a simulated ammunition round fired from the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated the firing; and 
 determine an outcome for the tactical engagement, wherein the determination is based on comparing, to determine which is most accurate, the determination on whether the one or more of the laser sensors was struck by the laser and the determination on whether the one or more of the plurality of participants was struck by the simulated ammunition round. 
   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein receiving an indication that a firearm of the plurality of firearms simulated a firing comprises receiving an indication that a trigger sensor of the firearm was activated by one of the plurality of participants.

The system of  claim 1 , wherein determining an outcome for the tactical engagement comprises determining which is most accurate, among the determination on whether the one or more of the laser sensors was struck by the laser and the determination on whether the one or more of the plurality of participants was struck by the simulated ammunition round, for a predefined scenario that the tactical engagement is in.

The system of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs when executed further cause the one or more processors to receive a third set of data comprising position information and orientation information of the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated the firing. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 4 , wherein determining whether the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by the simulated ammunition round is based on the third set of data. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 4 , wherein the one or more programs when executed further cause the one or more processors to make a second determination of whether the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by the simulated ammunition round, wherein the second determination is based on a stochastic process using the second set of data and the third set of data. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 6 , wherein the outcome of the tactical engagement is determined by determining a first likelihood that the one or more of the laser sensors being struck by the laser is a correct outcome for a predefined scenario that the tactical engagement is in, a second likelihood that the determination of whether the one or more of the plurality of participants was struck by the simulated ammunition round is the correct outcome for the predefined scenario, and a third likelihood that the second determination of whether the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by the simulated ammunition round is the correct outcome for the predefined scenario. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 7 , wherein a first set of steps used to determine the first likelihood, a second set of steps used to determine the second likelihood, and a third set of steps used to determine the third likelihood are stored into the data storage. 
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the outcome of the tactical engagement is stored into the data storage. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the determination of whether the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by the simulated ammunition round is stored into the data storage. 
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs when executed further cause the one or more processors to periodically receive data about each of the plurality of participants. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the received data about each of the plurality of participants is stored into the data storage. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the determination of whether one or more of the laser sensors worn by the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by a laser is based on a third set of data from a laser sensor of the plurality of laser sensors, and   the third set of data comprises an indication that the laser sensor was struck by the laser transmitted from the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated the firing.   
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the third set of data further comprises information on when the laser was transmitted from the firearm. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the third set of data further comprises information that identifies the firearm where the laser was transmitted from. 
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the third set of data further comprises information on where the laser sensor is located on the body of the one or more of the plurality of participants. 
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein determining whether the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by the simulated ammunition round is further based on the third set of data. 
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the simulation system further comprises a plurality of alarm devices, connected to the plurality of laser sensors, worn by the plurality of participants in the simulation. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 18 , wherein the one or more programs further cause the one or more processors to activate an alarm device, of the plurality of alarm devices, connected to the laser sensor of the plurality of laser sensors based on the indication that the laser sensor was struck by the laser. 
     
     
         20 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs when executed further cause the one or more processors to transmit the outcome to one or more of the plurality of participants, one or more firearms of the plurality of firearms, or both. 
     
     
         21 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the indication, of the first set of data, that one or more of the plurality of participants are present in the first set data is determined by using computer vision. 
     
     
         22 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the first set of data comprises data generated by a passive sensor. 
     
     
         23 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more programs when executed further cause the one or more processors to determine an amount of damage done to the one or more of the plurality of participants if the one or more of the plurality of participants were determined to be struck by the simulated ammunition round. 
     
     
         24 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the simulated ammunition round is simulated by determining a trajectory of a live round when fired from the firearm. 
     
     
         25 . A method for executing a simulation of a tactical engagement, the method comprising:
 receiving an indication that a firearm of the plurality of firearms simulated a firing;   receiving a first set of data generated by an image capture device of the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated a firing, wherein the first set of data includes an indication that one or more of the plurality of participants are present in the first set of data;   determining whether one or more of the laser sensors worn by the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by a laser transmitted from the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated the firing;   retrieving, from a data storage, a second set of data comprising position information and velocity information associated with the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data;   determining, based on the second set of data, whether the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by a simulated ammunition round fired from the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated the firing; and   determining an outcome for the tactical engagement, wherein the determination is based on comparing, to determine which is most accurate, the determination on whether the one or more of the laser sensors was struck by the laser and the determination on whether the one or more of the plurality of participants was struck by the simulated ammunition round.   
     
     
         26 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions for executing a simulation of a tactical engagement, wherein the instructions, when executed by one or more processors of an electronic device, cause the device to:
 receive an indication that a firearm of the plurality of firearms simulated a firing;   receive a first set of data generated by an image capture device of the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated a firing, wherein the first set of data includes an indication that one or more of the plurality of participants are present in the first set of data;   determine whether one or more of the laser sensors worn by the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by a laser transmitted from the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated the firing;   retrieve, from a data storage, a second set of data comprising position information and velocity information associated with the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data;   determine, based on the second set of data, whether the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the first set of data was struck by a simulated ammunition round fired from the firearm of the plurality of firearms that simulated the firing; and   determine an outcome for the tactical engagement, wherein the determination is based on comparing, to determine which is most accurate, the determination on whether the one or more of the laser sensors was struck by the laser and the determination on whether the one or more of the plurality of participants was struck by the simulated ammunition round.
