Container, closure, and methods for manufacture
Abstract
In some embodiments, apparatuses and methods are provided herein useful to contain and dispense a fluid, such as a thixotropic fluid. In some embodiments, a bottle having a closure cap includes a control device, a base, and a disk, where the base and disk define a mixing chamber configured to facilitate mixing of any serum or liquid separated from the fluid back therein. In some embodiments, a dispensing bottle includes a non-removable closure cap with a tamper evident feature that indicates whether the cap was previously opened. By one approach, the dispensing bottle includes discontinuous threads on a bottle neck and ratchet projections on a closure cap that engage the discontinuous thread(s) to prevent or inhibit manual removal of the cap from the bottle.

46 . A dispensing bottle comprising:
a bottle having a neck with discontinuous threads thereon; and a closure cap including:
a base having a central portion with an opening therethrough and a skirt having an inner surface with base ratchet projections extending from the inner surface thereof, the base ratchet projections configured to engage the discontinuous threads of the neck of the bottle such that after initially coupling of the closure cap to the base the closure cap cannot be manually removed from the neck of the bottle without visible damage to at least one of the closure cap or the bottle; and
a flow control disk having a generally planar body, the flow control disk being coupled to retaining structure on an interior of the base.
47 . The dispensing bottle of claim 46 further comprising a flip-top lid hingedly connected to the base, the flip-top lid configured to be manually movable between an open position and a closed position.
48 . The dispensing bottle of claim 47 wherein the flip-top lid further comprises an interior projection located and sized to selectively block egress of a thixotropic fluid inside of the bottle when the flip-top lid is positioned in the closed position atop the base.
49 . The dispensing bottle of claim 47 wherein the dispensing bottle lacks a removable liner on the neck of the bottle and further comprises bottle ratchet projections extending from the neck of the bottle, wherein at least one of the bottle ratchet projections is disposed between a first elongated thread and a second elongated thread.
50 . The dispensing bottle of claim 47 wherein the flow control disk comprises partial annular slots and at least one flange.
51 . The dispensing bottle of claim 47 wherein the base further comprises an interior ledge disposed around the opening.
52 . The dispensing bottle of claim 47 wherein the base ratchet projections extend from the inner surface of the base at an angle of approximately 60 degrees or less from the inner surface.
53 . The dispensing bottle of claim 47 wherein the base further comprises an internal shaft.
54 . The dispensing bottle of claim 53 wherein the internal shaft has a non-planar end surface opposite the opening in the central portion and wherein a plurality of fluid channels are formed by the non-planar end surface and the generally planar body of the flow control disk.
55 . The dispensing bottle of claim 46 wherein the opening of the base lacks a silicon valve and the closure cap is formed of a single polymer material.
56 . A closure cap for use with a bottle having discontinuous threads, the closure cap comprising:
a base having a central portion with an opening therethrough and a skirt having an inner surface with base threads and base ratchet projections extending from the inner surface thereof, the base ratchet projections configured to engage discontinuous threads of a bottle; and a flow control disk having a generally planar body, the flow control disk being coupled to retaining structure on an interior of the base.
57 . The closure cap of claim 56 further comprising a flip-top lid hingedly connected to the base, the flip-top lid being movable between a closed position wherein a portion of the flip-top lid blocks the opening in the base and an open position where the flip-top lid is rotated away from the opening of the base.
58 . The closure cap of claim 57 wherein the flip-top lid further comprises an interior projection located and sized to selectively block egress of a thixotropic fluid inside of the bottle when the flip-top lid is positioned in the closed position atop the base.
59 . The closure cap of claim 56 wherein the closure cap is formed of a single polymer material and without a silicon valve.
60 . The closure cap of claim 56 wherein the flow control disk comprises partial annular slots and at least one flange.
61 . The closure cap of claim 56 wherein the base further comprises an interior ledge disposed around the opening.
62 . The closure cap of claim 56 wherein the base ratchet projections extend from the inner surface of the base at an angle of approximately 60 degrees or less from the inner surface.
63 . The closure cap of claim 56 wherein the base further comprises an internal shaft.
64 .
