Adjustable offset sight
Abstract
The present disclosure provides a firearm comprising a barrel, a receiver coupled to the barrel, a stock coupled to the receiver, a primary optic mounted on the receiver, and an adjustable offset optic mount attached to the receiver. The adjustable offset optic mount includes a rail capture configured to attach to a rail on the receiver, a main arm extending from the rail capture at an offset angle relative to vertical, and a mounting plate adjustably coupled to the main arm. The mounting plate is configured to support a secondary optic and is adjustable along a tangent line relative to a shoulder pivot point of the firearm while maintaining the offset angle. This configuration allows for quick transition between the primary optic and the secondary optic by rotating the firearm about the shoulder pivot point.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A firearm, comprising:
a barrel; a receiver coupled to the barrel; a stock coupled to the receiver; a primary optic mounted on the receiver; and an adjustable offset optic mount attached to the receiver, the adjustable offset optic mount comprising:
a rail capture configured to attach to a rail on the receiver;
a main arm extending from the rail capture at an offset angle relative to vertical; and
a mounting plate adjustably coupled to the main arm, wherein the mounting plate is configured to support a secondary optic and is adjustable along a tangent line relative to a shoulder pivot point of the firearm while maintaining the offset angle.
2 . The firearm of claim 1 , wherein the offset angle is between 30 and 40 degrees from vertical.
3 . The firearm of claim 2 , wherein the offset angle is approximately 35 degrees from vertical.
4 . The firearm of claim 1 , wherein the main arm comprises a plurality of locating holes arranged along its length.
5 . The firearm of claim 4 , wherein the mounting plate is adjustably coupled to the main arm using plate screws that engage with selected locating holes.
6 . The firearm of claim 5 , wherein the plurality of locating holes comprises at least three sets of holes corresponding to inner, middle, and outer mounting positions.
7 . The firearm of claim 1 , wherein the rail capture is configured to attach to a Picatinny rail on the receiver.
8 . An adjustable offset optic mount for a firearm, comprising:
a rail capture configured to attach to a rail on a receiver of the firearm; a main arm extending from the rail capture at a fixed offset angle relative to vertical; a mounting plate adjustably coupled to the main arm and configured to support a secondary optic; and a plurality of locating holes on the main arm, wherein the mounting plate is selectively attachable to the main arm at different positions using the plurality of locating holes, allowing adjustment of the secondary optic along a tangent line relative to a shoulder pivot point of the firearm while maintaining the fixed offset angle.
9 . The adjustable offset optic mount of claim 8 , wherein the fixed offset angle is between 30 and 40 degrees from vertical.
10 . The adjustable offset optic mount of claim 9 , wherein the fixed offset angle is approximately 35 degrees from vertical.
11 . The adjustable offset optic mount of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of locating holes comprises at least three sets of holes corresponding to inner, middle, and outer mounting positions.
12 . The adjustable offset optic mount of claim 11 , wherein the mounting plate is adjustably coupled to the main arm using plate screws that engage with selected locating holes.
13 . The adjustable offset optic mount of claim 8 , wherein the rail capture is configured to attach to a Picatinny rail on the receiver of the firearm.
14 . The adjustable offset optic mount of claim 12 , further comprising a quick adjust mechanism with arm tightening for rapid adjustments to the position of the mounting plate without tools.
15 . A method for attaching and using an adjustable offset optic mount with a firearm, comprising:
securing a rail capture to a rail on a receiver of the firearm; attaching a main arm to the rail capture at a fixed offset angle relative to vertical; coupling a mounting plate to the main arm; attaching a secondary optic to the mounting plate; and adjusting the position of the mounting plate along the main arm to align the secondary optic along a tangent line relative to a shoulder pivot point of the firearm while maintaining the fixed offset angle.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the fixed offset angle is between 30 and 40 degrees from vertical.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the fixed offset angle is approximately 35 degrees from vertical.
18 . The method of claim 15 , wherein coupling the mounting plate to the main arm comprises selecting from a plurality of locating holes arranged along the length of the main arm.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the plurality of locating holes comprises at least three sets of holes corresponding to inner, middle, and outer mounting positions.
20 . The method of claim 19 , further comprising securing the mounting plate to the main arm using plate screws that engage with selected locating holes.Cited by (0)
