Claims

Abstract

A network adapter includes a processor and a hardware processing engine. The processor is configured to obtain a first I/O command that indicates to write first data stored in a local server into at least one peer server, and to send first indication information to the hardware processing engine, where the first indication information indicates the hardware processing engine to obtain the first data from the local server, and the indication information includes address information and length information that are of the first data and that are stored in the local server. The hardware processing engine is configured to: when the first data is obtained from the local server based on the address information and the length information, directly process the first data, and send the processed first data to the at least one peer server, where the first data is not stored in a memory of the network adapter.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A network adapter, comprising a processor and a hardware processing engine;
 the processor is configured to obtain an input/output (I/O) command, wherein the I/O command is configured to write first data stored in a local server into a remote server;   the processor is further configured to send first indication information to the hardware processing engine to instruct the hardware processing engine to obtain the first data from the local server, wherein the first indication information comprises address information of the first data stored in the local server; and   the hardware processing engine is configured to:   obtain the first data from the local server based on the address information;   process the obtained first data without storing the obtained first data into a memory of the network adapter; and   send the encrypted first data to the remote server without storing the obtained first data into the memory of the network adapter.   
     
     
         2 . The network adapter according to  claim 1 , wherein the hardware processing engine is specifically configured to perform an encryption on the obtained first data. 
     
     
         3 . The network adapter according to  claim 1 , wherein the hardware processing engine is specifically configured to obtain the first data from the local server through a DMA command. 
     
     
         4 . The network adapter according to  claim 1 , wherein the first data is stored in a memory of the local server, and wherein the hardware processing engine is specifically configured to obtain the first data from the memory of the local server. 
     
     
         5 . The network adapter according to  claim 1 , wherein the first data includes multiple data blocks, each data block has a corresponding address information, and wherein the hardware processing engine is specifically configured to obtain one or more of the multiple data blocks based on the corresponding address information. 
     
     
         6 . The network adapter according to  claim 1 , wherein the network adapter further comprises a simulation device, and wherein the simulation device is further configured to implement device simulation to present a non-volatile memory express (NVMe) storage device, or a small computer system interface (SCSI) device, or a virtual small computer system interface (virtio-SCSI) device, or a virtio-BLK device to the local server. 
     
     
         7 . The network adapter according to  claim 1 , wherein the hardware processing engine is configured to send the encrypted first data to the remote server over remote direct data access (RDMA) protocol. 
     
     
         8 . A method, comprising:
 obtaining, by a processor of a network adapter, an input/output (I/O) command, wherein the I/O command is configured to write first data stored in a local server into a remote server;   sending, by the processor, first indication information to a hardware processing engine of the network adapter to instruct the hardware processing engine to obtain the first data from the local server, wherein the first indication information comprises address information of the first data stored in the local server;   obtaining, by the hardware processing engine, the first data from the local server based on the address information;   processing, by the hardware processing engine, the obtained first data without storing the obtained first data into a memory of the network adapter; and   sending, by the hardware processing engine, the encrypted first data to the remote server without storing the obtained first data into the memory of the network adapter.   
     
     
         9 . The method according to  claim 8 , the processing the obtained first data comprising: performing an encryption on the obtained first data. 
     
     
         10 . The method according to  claim 8 , the obtaining the first data from the local server comprising: obtaining the first data from the local server through a DMA command. 
     
     
         11 . The method according to  claim 8 , wherein the first data is stored in a memory of the local server, and wherein the obtaining the first data from the local server comprising: obtaining the first data from the memory of the local server. 
     
     
         12 . The method according to  claim 8 , wherein the first data includes multiple data blocks, each data block has a corresponding address information, and wherein the obtaining the first data comprising: obtaining one or more of the multiple data blocks based on the corresponding address information. 
     
     
         13 . The method according to  claim 8 , further comprising:
 implementing, by a simulation device of the network adapter, device simulation to present a non-volatile memory express (NVMe) storage device, or a small computer system interface (SCSI) device, or a virtual small computer system interface (virtio-SCSI) device, or a virtio-BLK device to the local server.   
     
     
         14 . The method according to  claim 8 , the sending the encrypted first data comprising sending the encrypted first data to the remote server over remote direct data access (RDMA) protocol. 
     
     
         15 . A server, comprising a host memory and a network adapter, wherein the host memory is configured to store first data, wherein the network adapter comprising a processor and a hardware processing engine;
 the processor is configured to obtain an input/output (I/O) command, wherein the I/O command is configured to write the first data into a remote server;   the processor is further configured to send first indication information to the hardware processing engine to instruct the hardware processing engine to obtain the first data from the host memory of the server, wherein the first indication information comprises address information of the first data stored in the host memory; and   the hardware processing engine is configured to:   obtain the first data from the host memory based on the address information;   process the obtained first data without copying the obtained first data from the host memory to a memory of the network adapter; and   send the encrypted first data to the remote server without copying the obtained first data from the host memory to the memory of the network adapter.   
     
     
         16 . The server according to  claim 15 , wherein the hardware processing engine is specifically configured to perform an encryption on the obtained first data. 
     
     
         17 . The server according to  claim 15 , wherein the hardware processing engine is specifically configured to obtain the first data from the host memory through a DMA command. 
     
     
         18 . The server according to  claim 15 , wherein the first data includes multiple data blocks, each data block has a corresponding address information, and wherein the hardware processing engine is specifically configured to obtain one or more of the multiple data blocks based on the corresponding address information. 
     
     
         19 . The server according to  claim 15 , wherein the network adapter further comprises a simulation device, and wherein the simulation device is further configured to implement device simulation to present a non-volatile memory express (NVMe) storage device, or a small computer system interface (SCSI) device, or a virtual small computer system interface (virtio-SCSI) device, or a virtio-BLK device to the server. 
     
     
         20 . The server according to  claim 15 , wherein the hardware processing engine is configured to send the encrypted first data to the remote server over remote direct data access (RDMA) protocol.
