Abstract
The disclosure provides products configured for oral use, the products including a mixture of a particulate filler component, a cellulose derivative, water, and one or more flavoring agents. The products exhibit greater stability over time with respect to flavor component concentration than comparative products which do not contain a cellulose derivative.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 20 . (canceled)
21 . A pouched product comprising a composition contained within a water-permeable pouch, wherein the composition comprises:
from about 35 to about 70% by weight of a particulate cellulose filler; from about 1 to about 5% by weight of a cellulose ether; from about 25 to about 50% by weight of water, all weights based on the total weight of the composition; and one or more flavoring agents.
22 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the cellulose ether is selected from the group consisting of methyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxyethylmethyl cellulose, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, ethylhydroxyethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, and combinations thereof.
23 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the cellulose ether comprises hydroxypropyl cellulose.
24 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein water is present in an amount of about 25 to about 40% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition.
25 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the particulate cellulose filler comprises microcrystalline cellulose.
26 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the one or more flavoring agents comprises a compound having a carbon-carbon double bond, a carbon-oxygen double bond, a carbon-oxygen single bond, or a combination thereof.
27 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the one or more flavoring agents comprises one or more aldehydes, ketones, esters, terpenes, terpenoids, or a combination thereof.
28 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the one or more flavoring agents comprises one or more esters.
29 . The pouched product of claim 28 , wherein the one or more esters are alkyl esters comprising a C 1 -C 8 alkanol and a C 2 -C 8 alkane carboxylic acid.
30 . The pouched product of claim 28 , wherein the one or more esters comprise isoamyl acetate, ethyl hexanoate, ethyl heptanoate, allyl hexanoate, or a combination thereof.
31 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the composition further comprises one or more salts, one or more organic acids, one or more sweeteners, one or more binding agents, one or more humectants, one or more gums, or combinations thereof.
32 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the composition further comprises one or more active ingredients selected from the group consisting of a nicotine component, botanicals, stimulants, amino acids, vitamins, and cannabinoids.
33 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the composition further comprises from about 0.1 to about 10% by weight of a nicotine component, calculated as the free base and based on the total weight of the composition.
34 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the composition further comprises from about 0.1 to about 10% by weight of one or more organic acids or alkali metal salts thereof, based on the total weight of the composition.
35 . The pouched product of claim 34 , wherein the one or more organic acids is selected from the group consisting of citric acid, octanoic acid, benzoic acid, decanoic acid, and combinations thereof.
36 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein the composition is completely free of tobacco material, excluding any nicotine component present.
37 . The pouched product of claim 21 , wherein when measured at a time period of one or more of 2 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, or 1 month after preparation, the pouched product has a concentration of one or more flavoring agents present which is greater than a concentration of the same one or more flavoring agents present in a control pouched product which does not include the cellulose ether, as determined by semi-quantitative Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry.
38 . A pouched product comprising a composition contained within a water-permeable pouch, wherein the composition comprises:
from about 35 to about 70% by weight of microcrystalline cellulose; from about 1 to about 5% by weight of a cellulose ether; from about 25 to about 50% by weight of water; from about 0.1 to about 10% by weight of a nicotine component, calculated as the free base, all weights based on the total weight of the composition; and one or more flavoring agents, wherein the composition completely free of tobacco material, excluding the nicotine component.
39 . The pouched product of claim 38 , wherein the composition further comprises from about 0.1 to about 10% by weight of one or more organic acids or alkali metal salts thereof, based on the total weight of the composition.
40 . A pouched product comprising a composition contained within a water-permeable pouch, wherein the composition comprises:
from about 35 to about 70% by weight of microcrystalline cellulose; from about 1 to about 5% by weight of hydroxypropyl cellulose; from about 25 to about 50% by weight of water; from about 0.1 to about 10% by weight of a nicotine component, calculated as the free base; from about 0.1 to about 10% by weight of benzoic acid and sodium benzoate combined, all weights based on the total weight of the composition; and one or more flavoring agents, wherein the composition completely free of tobacco material, excluding the nicotine component.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
