Conversion base for baseball/softball field

Abstract

A base for use in converting a baseball diamond from a diamond having 15″ bases to having 18″ bases without the need to alter the substructure of the diamond. The base comprises a base top and an anchor post extending from a bottom of the base top. The base top defines a square having a first side, a second side opposite said first side, a third side extending between first ends of the first and second sides, and a fourth side opposite the third side and extending between second ends of the first and second sides, wherein all of the sides of the base are about 18″ in length. The anchor post is positioned, such that a center of the anchor post is about 7½″ from the first edge, about 10½″ from the second edge, and about 9″ from each of the third and fourth edges.

A base for a baseball of softball field comprising a base top and an anchor post extending from a bottom of said base top; said base top defining a square having a first side, a second side opposite said first side, a third side extending between first ends of said first and second sides, and a fourth side opposite said third side and extending between second ends of said first and second sides, all of said sides being about 18″ in length;
 wherein said anchor post is positioned, such that a center of said anchor post is about 7½″ from said first edge, about 10½″ from said second edge, and about 9″ from each of said third and fourth edges; 
 whereby the base can be used in a baseball filed previously designed for 15″ bases without having to alter the baseball field. 
 
     
     
         2 . The base of  claim 1  wherein said post extends from an anchor base; said anchor base being received in a bottom side of said base top 
     
     
         3 . A kit for converting a baseball or softball diamond from using bases of a first size to using bases of a second size, said bases of said first size having side edges of a first length and said bases of said second size having side edges of a second length, said second size and said second length being greater than said first size and said first length, said kit comprising:
 a first base and a third base; said first and third bases each comprising a base top and an anchor post extending from a bottom of said base top; said base top defining a square having a first side, a second side opposite said first side, a third side extending between first ends of said first and second sides, and a fourth side opposite said third side and extending between second ends of said first and second sides, all of said sides being about said second; wherein said anchor post is positioned about midway between said third and fourth edges, and is positioned a distance from a mid-point between said first and second edges approximately equal to the one-half the difference between said first and second lengths; and   a second base; said second base comprising a second base top and a second base anchor post extending from a bottom of said second base top; said second base top defining a square having first side, second, third, and fourth sides, all of said sides being of said second length; wherein said second anchor post is positioned, such that a center of said second anchor post extends from an approximate center of said second base.

The kit of  claim 3  wherein said first size is 15″ and said second size is 18″, and where on said first and third bases, said anchor post is positioned, such that a center of said anchor post positioned is about 7½″ from said first edge, about 10½″ from said second edge, and about 9″ from each of said third and fourth edges
