Abstract

A light assembly includes a base having an attachment portion and having a battery receptacle extending outwardly from the attachment portion and configured to removably receive a battery. The attachment portion includes a flat surface configured to be positioned adjacent a ferromagnetic support surface and a magnetic coupling member adjacent the flat surface to magnetically attract the base to the ferromagnetic support surface. The light assembly includes an arm movably coupled to the attachment portion of the base. The light assembly includes a light head movably coupled to the arm such that a position of the light head relative to the base is adjustable.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A light assembly comprising:
 a base including
 an attachment portion having a flat surface configured to be positioned adjacent a ferromagnetic support surface and a magnetic coupling member adjacent the flat surface to magnetically attract the base to the ferromagnetic support surface, and
 a battery receptacle extending outwardly from the attachment portion and configured to removably receive a battery;
   an arm movably coupled to the attachment portion of the base; and a light head movably coupled to the arm such that a position of the light head relative to the base is adjustable.

         2 . The light assembly of claim 1 , wherein the arm and the battery receptacle extend from a side of the attachment portion opposite the flat surface.

         3 . The light assembly of claim 1 , wherein the battery receptacle is configured to receive the battery such that a portion of the battery remains exposed outside of the base.

         4 . The light assembly of claim 1 , wherein the flat surface defines a plane, and wherein the battery receptacle is configured to receive the battery in a direction oblique to the plane.

         5 . The light assembly of claim 1 , wherein the flat surface defines a plane, and wherein the battery receptacle is configured to receive the battery in a direction parallel to the plane.

         6 . The light assembly of claim 1 , wherein the base also includes a handle portion extending from the attachment portion, wherein the battery receptacle is formed in the handle portion, and wherein the handle portion is graspable by a user to decouple the base from the ferromagnetic support surface.

         7 . The light assembly of claim 1 , wherein the arm includes a tray and a permanent magnet positioned within the arm adjacent the tray.

         8 . The light assembly of claim 1 , wherein the light head includes a light-emitting element, and wherein the light-emitting element is electrically connected to the battery receptacle through the arm.

         9 . A light assembly comprising:
 a base including a magnetic coupling member configured to removably couple the base to a support surface; an arm movably coupled to the base; and a light head movably coupled to an end of the arm opposite from the base, the light head including
 a light-emitting element operable to emit light from a first side of the light head, and
 a handle extending from a second side of the light head opposite the first side, the handle configured to be grasped by a user to adjust a position of the light head relative to the base.

         10 . The light assembly of claim 9 , wherein the handle is a D-shaped handle defining a grip and an opening configured to receive a hand of the user.

         11 . The light assembly of claim 10 , wherein the light head also includes a control interface supported on the D-shaped handle adjacent the grip.

         12 . The light assembly of claim 9 , wherein the light head includes a control interface having one or more controls for controlling operation of the light-emitting element.

         13 . The light assembly of claim 12 , wherein the control interface also has an indicator.

         14 . The light assembly of claim 12 , wherein the light head also includes a housing, wherein the light-emitting element includes an array of LEDs supported on a first PCB positioned within the housing, and wherein the control interface is supported on a second PCB positioned within the housing.

         15 . The light assembly of claim 14 , wherein the second PCB is oriented perpendicular to the first PCB.

         16 . A light assembly comprising:
 a base including
 an attachment portion having a flat surface configured to be secured to a support surface, and
 a battery receptacle extending from a side of the attachment portion opposite the flat surface;
   an arm extending from the side of the attachment portion and movable relative to the base; and a light head coupled to an end of the arm opposite the base.

         17 . The light assembly of claim 16 , wherein the arm includes a tray and a permanent magnet positioned within the arm adjacent the tray.

         18 . The light assembly of claim 17 , wherein the tray is a recessed tray.

         19 . The light assembly of claim 16 , wherein the arm includes an internal honeycomb structure comprising a plurality of hexagonal cells.

         20 . The light assembly of claim 16 , wherein the light head is movably coupled to the end of the arm.
